WAY too small for the size marked

  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: 10
  • Height: 5'8"
  • Weight: 160lbs

While I have several Mountain Hardwear jackets, I've never worn their pants/shorts that come in numbered sizes. I'm usually an 8 or a 10 in most outdoor clothing brands, so I ordered a 10 thinking it would be safe with these. Uh, no. They barely come up over my butt. There is no way I can get them anywhere near zipped up or closed. They have to be at least two sizes too small. I was afraid maybe I'd gained some weight recently and not realized it, but nope—still weigh the same, and I can still get into my size 8 Prana pants and size 10 Marmot pants. Several pairs of them in various cuts/styles.

I understand buying women's clothes online can be a crapshoot, but I really didn't think I would have to size two or three sizes up for these! That's insane. I got them on clearance, and unfortunately I'm going to have to try to sell them at a secondhand store here because once I paid for an envelope to return them, plus shipping costs, I'd probably only get about $10 back. I'm not too upset, but I definitely won't be buying anymore Mountain Hardwear pants unless I try them on first.

Which is a shame because the cut of the pants is really cute, I love the color, and the material feels great. If you want to buy these, beware you'll need to size up considerably if you don't already know your MH size.

Legs too tight!

These pants fit me great, except the leg openings would hardly fit over my normal size calves. I tried the next size larger but the were large everywhere except the leg openings which were still way too small. I returned them.
