Okay, but not great

I'm keeping this shirt just because it was on sale, so the return shipping would be too high a percentage of the purchase price to make it worthwhile. Anyway, it's an alright shirt, but I'm not impressed. The material is too thin and clingy. Even though I'm a runner with very little fat, it just feels unflattering. It's also static-prone. I'll wear it to work out in, but it is definitely not going to make the top rotation.

    Better than a bare chest

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Height: 6'0"
    • Weight: 165lbs

Keeps me cool in the heat, protected from the sun, and dries faster than a out-of-eyeball contact lens in a smoky Vegas casino. Big fan.

    Ultralight

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 6'0"
    • Weight: 200lbs

This is an ultralight t-shirt and I'm just about swimming in it. I'd say it runs a little big, but it's light, loose, stretchy, and flowy. I'm about 6-feet 200lbs and the large is a perfect fit, the XL is huge. If you need a shirt for high heat and humidity this would be it. The down side is that the material is very stretchy and snaggy. It's prone to runs and pulls more that the "Wicked Lite". This shirt is a 4 and the Wicked Lite is a 5. The Wicked Lite by contrast has no stretch and is a stiffer material, but just as light and comfortable in the heat. Both dry in a flash and hold little water.

    Wicked Light

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 170lbs

Super lightweight shirt, and great for long runs in the summer heat. Everything you want from an athletic shirt - lightweight feel, wicks moisture and limited odor retention. I bought this shirt and ran my PR 5k the next day. Coincidence? Maybe..

    Nice and Light/Bright

Very lightweight shirt, definitely keeps me cool, even in direct sunlight up in the alpine areas. Fits a bit big, I wear a medium in t-shirts and the small in this fits perfectly. The Orange is awesome and very bright, your buddies will need sunglasses when you wear it!

      Light and Breathable

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: Runs large
      • Size Bought: M
      • Height: 6'3"
      • Weight: 175lbs

Love this shirt, light and breathable. Runs large so order a size down, I exchanged my larges for mediums. Great for summer time activity.

      Awesome

I bought this shirt to train for a marathon in, so I've only used it for running thus far and I love it. No chafing anywhere and the shirt fits me perfectly. Super great build quality as to be expected from a Mountain Hardwear product. I plan on buying more of these shirts in different colors. The color of my shirt is exactly how it looks online. I've put over 50 miles of running on this shirt alone and its holding up wonderfully. I prefer this to the other brands tech shirts I've used (Nike, New Balance, Hind,etc.). My only complaint is that it's rather shiny, but that's not a big deal at all. It still looks great. 9.9/10

      Awesome shirt

I used this in the Grand canyon and sweet a lot but it dryed
so fast but if you where it bush waking and going thro trees it likes to snag and get hung up on thorns and bushes..

      Dry fast

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Medium
      • Height: 5'9"
      • Weight: 176lbs

Very lightweight. Used it for skiing and boy I sweat a lot, but with this shirt, my upper body remained almost dry. And it drys pretty fast and keeps away funny odors.

      Affordable high performance

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
      • Fit: True to size

There isn't much to ponder. Pick your favorite color, and you're in for a nice, quick-drying performance shirt. It's the soft, draping type of performance material.

Not as good as the Wicked Lite.

      I have to say...

Jared did one of the most thorough reviews I have ever seen on any product below. Wow.

The Wicked Lite shirts perform better. They just do. Are they worth the extra few dollars? Yeah, I think so.

It does come down to 'You get what you pay for'. It is not that the regular Wicked shirts suck, it's just that the Lite's are better.

The Wicked shirts I feel are better in the spring and fall. Hell, depending on what you are doing I would wear these during the winter too. But I do think they are best when the temps fall a bit.

      Affordable and Quality

If you search through my closet you'll find a stock pile of cotton shirts that I've received over the years and I've been known to climb in them or head to the gym. But cotton shirts are probably the worst thing to wear, but then I decided to pick up the MHW Wicked Shirt.

      Fit (New):
So at 5'11.5'' and about 170-180 lbs I fit in between a Medium and a Large depending on the brand. Certain brands work great while others are dreadful. For Mountain Hardwear in the past I've been a medium but the apparel was always a bit snug around my shoulders (realistically I should have a Large for my chest and shoulders and a Medium for my waist). This year Mountain Hardwear reworked their fit and this Medium fits almost perfectly for me in the shoulders and the waist. I could have used the Large but it was a bit long for me and a bit big at the waist. All in all, the new fit on the Mountain Hardwear apparel is a huge plus for me. Finally something that fits spot on!

      Material:
Normally synthetic shirts have a weird feel to me but this one is nice and soft. I thought it had a bit of a silky smooth feel on the face of the fabric.

      Seams:
The seams are not noticeable at all, thanks to the flat lock seam construction. This is a method that is used to reduce the thickness of a seam. Many shirts have seams that are sewn where two pieces of fabric are butted up and just sewn together. Flat lock seams are used to reduce the bulkiness or build up in spots which is incredibly important when layering.

      Wicking:
My assessment of the wicking while I was out hiking is not going to be the best. I was pouring sweat but it was also muggy / raining out so no matter what I was going to be wet. When I've used the shirt at the gym while running on the treadmill, I was pouring sweat but didn't feel soaked. The Wick.Q moisture-wicking technology did a nice job keeping me from being a giant bucket of sweat.

      Colors:
I opted for the Steam (Light Grey) and Collegiate Navy since they're fairly easy to go with everything else I own. I've seen all the other colors in person and can say that they are as pictured.:

      Antimicrobial:
While I haven't had these shirts for months, so I cannot comment on the longevity of this feature. I can say that after a few hard work outs and hitting the summit of Mount Olympus this past Saturday there was no smell or odor on the shirt. It just smelled like a shirt. For me, that is a pretty big deal that I can work out in it and then not have it smell like I just worked out.

      Christian,

thanks for the questions! Realistically it'll depend on your chest measurement and your waist measurement. Do you know what each of those is? I'm 6'0'' and 180 and the Medium fits me spot on. Waist is 33" and chest is 43" to give you some reference on my build as compared to the size.
