Built to handle the frigid temperatures in the Alaskan mountains, the Mt. Eyak Down Vest is ideal for ice-cold ski days, late nights around the fire, and brisk walks to the local coffee shop. This classic puffy vest is made with oversized baffles, giving the down insulation plenty of room for to loft and keeping our core toasty warm. Weather-resistant nylon, elastic binding, and an adjustable hem keep cool breeze at bay, and DWR coating ensures snowflakes and light rain won't dampen our down.

Cheaply made, runs small
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Size Bought:
- medium
- Height:
- 5' 11"
- Weight:
- 155
I've purchased a number of Mountain Hardwear men's outerwear in times past and typically wear a medium. I've been impressed with the quality, too, This one looks and feels rather cheaply made and I can barely zip the medium shut. I got the "$150" vest for $60 but I can tell you, this is no particular deal at $60! It looks and feels like about a $40-50 vest at best! If I would have paid $150 for this, it would be going right back. As is, I'll give it to one of my kids.

Vest season is every season
Fit is excellent and the best is quite warm. I live in Alaska and this is a perfect layer underneath a coat for extra warmth.

Excellent Vest
Bottom line up front, this is an amazing vest at an amazing price. I tried other brands (Patagonia, REI, North Face) and the Mountain Hardware Vest was the best fitting and most functional (warmth, pockets, fit). I highly recommend this vest!

Perfect for Northwest Weather
This vest is the perfect combination of warmth and sleekness! It works great for the days of slight drizzle or occasional snowfall here in WA. It can be dressed up or down making it a versatile wardrobe addition!

My basecamp go-to
I've been using the Mt. Eyak vest for a few camping trips this fall and it really enjoying it so far. It keeps my core super warm and fits great. I like how fabric sheds dirt and doesn't pick easily (haven't seen a feather pop out yet). Zippers run smoothly and snag-free, which doesn't happen on other down coats I own, so that's a relief. Overall, a great piece that I'm very happy with.

Do not like the narrow cut.
Do not like the skinny cut now used on some of MHW products like this one. The color is off too. It's much more green than pictured...not yellow. And feels flimsy for the steep price.
