The Kelvinator jacket's face fabric is tough 20D nylon ripstop fabric. This wind-resistant fabric is soft and smooth to make layering easy. Mountain Hardwear then insulated the jacket with its Q.Shield 650-fill water-resistant down. The down fibers are permanently infused with a water-repellant, so they maintain their loft and insulating properties when wet. The Kelvinator's slightly longer cut offers a bit more protection from the elements and helps keep snow from climbing up your torso on deep powder days. An insulated, adjustable hood locks in heat where it's most likely to escape.
