We were simply fed up with shorts being too bulky or too tight to climb in and simply not stylish enough to wear out to the local watering hole, at least that was the case before we tried on the Mountain Hardwear J Tree 11in Short. These shorts use a stylish and modern cut paired with a stretchy and breathable cotton construction to ensure we are comfortable from the crag to the bar.

Prob about 1/4 inch smaller in the waist compared to others

Solid Shorts
These are a solid pair of shorts. They fit great, look nice and are ideal for outdoor activities. They could be nicer though in the looks department. Theres a faint grid pattern on them that makes them obvious they're an active wear material. With that said I'm so sad that MH decided to not bring back the "The Railay Redpoint Short". It was a superior model in every way. If I could go back in time and buy more pairs I would because it was a perfect outdoor casual short. Bring them back MH!

I’m here for William Montgomery
He wears them so well and they lasted since he was a sophomore in high school, well worth the money since he got them through the 5 finger discount program at outdoor inc. sometimes they were too small, sometimes they were too big, but they were always super flattering in the backside

Go to shorts
I would wear these shorts everyday if I could. Durable enough to climb in, but still casual enough to wear around town. The 7" inseam is closer to a 5", but that's what I wanted anyway. Looking forward to more colors!

Great shorts BUT....
The shorts were what I expected. They can be worn for a nice evening out paired with a collared short sleeve button down, and Birkenstocks or with a pair of hiking shoes or boots on the trail. The only issue is a long legged person like myself may think the shorts long cut is a bit to short.

Love these shorts
I love these shorts and just bought a second pair. Fabric feels good and the little bit of stretch is just enough. There are a variety of rise lengths to choose from which I really like (I'm short). Great range of colors too.

Great shorts, but delicate
These shorts do everything I want while climbing rope or boulder, except they are not durable as the AP pant. They offer great flexibility and fit, great stretch for the high foot moves, yet when you scrape a small section on a small piece of rock on a mild scramble, you’re left with a gaping hole. I love these shorts, but I can’t be patching them after every climb.

JTree shorts
I was looking for something to use for work and other non-hardcore activities and these fit my needs perfectly. They are a lightweight material, yet feel tough. They are not only true to size (a rarity these days), but they stay true to size throughout the course of the day. They have just a little stretchiness, but not enough to cause the shorts to deform during use. MH should offer in more colors, and I would buy even more pairs.

New fav's
Im picky about shorts. I like short shorts, cant be over featured, need to be able to be worn climbing, working in the shop or just walking around town and these shorts check all those boxes. Not a huge fan of zipper pockets, but thats my only complaint.
