Highball Insulated Pant
Find your local powder stashes or enjoy a cold, sunny day of ripping groomers in the Mountain Hardwear Highball Insulated Pant. This lightly insulated pant thrives when worn on resort days when you need to stay dry, warm, and comfortable.
To ensure you can slash powder, cruise groomers, and endure long snowy chairlift rides while staying warm, the Highball is equipped with a two-layer construction called Dry.Q. This material is breathable and waterproof to keep you dry both from your sweat and from outside moisture. At the same time Thermal.Q insulation helps trap heat without adding excess bulk or weight. Additionally, large inner-thigh vents allow you to dump excess heat and a built-in Recco rescue reflector can be picked up by beacons in the case of an emergency.
- Lightweight, insulated pants keep you skiing all day
- Dry.Q fabric keeps you high and dry on even deep days
- Lofty Thermal.Q fill retains warmth and loft when wet
- Inner-thigh zips allow heat to escape if you get sweating
- Adjustable waist and powder skirt integration keeps the snow out
- Plenty of pockets for storing essentials and snacks
- RECCO reflector can help ski patrol locate you in an emergency

Awesome for tall and skinny
- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: Medium Long
- Height: 6'2"
- Weight: 185lbs
I'm 6'2 185lbs (skinny legs). I ordered a Medium-Long and it's fits amazing. Perfect length, slim through the leg, and good insulation. Definitely the best ski pants I've ever tried.
Warm and dry in Iceland
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
- Size Bought: Small-short
- Height: 5'4"
These pants are incredible. I wore them for a week in Iceland in February in all kinds of situations and weather (from extreme rain/wind/snow to sitting on a bus for hours). I wore them over a base wool layer and a pair of thin joggers and was completely comfortable, even having to open the vents at times. On a particularly rainy day, water got in through all my gear *except* these pants. I can't wait to have reason to wear them again.
Fit: Mountain Hardwear has always been good for me. Size small-short was a good length for 5'4" height. The waist is a bit higher than an average pant but seemed good for a winter outer layer. I didn't experience the crotch issue noted by the other reviewers.
The one potential negative:
They have a boot gator which is not for everyone. My winter boots happen to have a wide cuff so it wasn't an issue for me to tuck the gator in.
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Fit: Runs small
Big fan of mountain hardware but these were a little tight. I'm 5'8" 165 lbs and it seemed a little snug. Agree with the previous crouch comment from the other review. Otherwise very stylish and material seems good.
Wanted to love it
- Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: L
- Height: 6'3"
- Weight: 200lbs
Usually no issues with Mountain Hardwear stuff, in fact a big fan of the brand. Wanted to love this pant. Insulation, fabric etc. all seemed great. However, there is a definite issue with the crotch cut; very high and the material is quite stiff in this spot. You have to move the crotch to one side or the other to wear the pant. Maybe just a stitching error on the particular pant I was sent.
Sizing. What are the specs for a Mens medium regular; waist size, length. Etc. I'm 5'9", 33 inch waist. Thanks.
