So thin yet not lightweight

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it
Size Bought:
XS

Mountain Hardwear is always my go-to brand, unfortunately this is the first flop for me. The jacket’s fabric seems sturdy and dense, so probably resistant to tears, but as a result not super lightweight as described. What is ultra lightweight is the down fill. It feels like part of the front chest area, front pocket area and side panels of the jacket I received was missing fill completely, and the rest of the jacket barely has any. As a result it feels more like a quilted shell than a lightweight puffy. There’s just not much puff at all. Sadly returning.

Best coat ever!!!

I am finally warmer than my husband!!! This coat is awesome!! I decided to try it even though most people said that it ran small. Well for me it fits like it should I normally wear an XL in most things and the XL fits how it should. Honestly this is the best coat I have ever worn. It is thin so it’s not bulky. But the down fill is exactly enough to keep me warm. I live in interior Alaska and we have had a humid winter so none of my regular coats were keeping me warm.

Glen Alpine Hoody

I originally bought the small, as I am usually wear sizes small or medium. Small was a bit too snug so I exchanged it for a medium, which fits great, allowing room if I wear something a bit bulky.

Great jacket, not perfect but almost!

I bought this in the fall and have been wearing it all winter, it is super warm for how light it is and fits perfectly under my rain shell and other heavier layers. I got a size small (5'5", 125lbs for reference) The cinchable hem is great for keeping the wind out, the hood fits snugly around my head, and the sleeves are the perfect length and are nicely snug at the wrists. I've found it to be very durable, I pull it in and out of an old metal locker at work and have felt it snag many times but has never ripped! I also love that it's a matte fabric! My only issues with it are; as some reviews have mentioned, the front pockets are slightly too small, so that if I have anything other than just my hands in them my hands don't fit in all the way. Also, I do wish it was a bit more compressable, I will be investing in a different model to take backpacking next season. The only other super minor thing is that the cut on my figure looks a bit weird, the tailored back and rounded hem sticks out in a way that I'm not crazy about. But! That's most likely not an issue for everyone, and you can't tell under a backpack or under other layers anyway..! Overall, it's doin the job well :)

Down is king.

Bought this for my wife after doing a December camping trip and realizing… dang she needs some down. She would never seek out to spend enough money for a good down jacket so I went behind her back. Needless to say she now realizes what she was missing! The jacket fits her perfect. She is 5’ 2” and we got a small and it fits with just enough room for layers underneath. She loves the hood on it and has commented how nice it is to be warm out in the cold wile still being able to move in a lightweight jacket. The power of down is no joke.

Super warm!

This jacket is worth every penny. I was worried it wouldn't be warm as it's very thin (I can't stand bulky jackets) but this is a solid winter jacket. It's very sleek looking on and runs true to size. I am 5'6 and 145 lbs and the large is perfect even with a thick sweater under it.
