Why We Like The Glacial Storm Parka

Whether you're on an actual glacier, or more likely, traversing the freezing streets of your city, the Mountain Hardwear Glacial Storm Parka is what we recommend to help you fend off the elements. Packed with 600-fill down, the Glacial Storm traps in your body heat to keep you from feeling winter's chill. The durable nylon exterior has a DWR finish to encourage melting snow to roll off instead of seeping in, and the brushed nylon interior mimics the feel of cotton for ultimate comfort.

Disappointed

Quality and details are lacking. I was very disappointed with this coat. I own a MH coat from 2014 (my all time favorite) and this coat does not compare. Too much cost-cutting on MH’s part? Maybe?

LOVE!

I wanted a warm, cozy jacket that was comfortable and stylish for dog walking and other non-technical pursuits and this is the perfect thing! I love the smooth, contrasting lining, deep pockets and fluffy down hood. It comes down to just below my butt and the reversible zipper is great when you want a little more leg room. I'm actually happy when it is cold enough that I can wear it!

Chic and Warm!

I bought this in store and was really impressed by the style. Very minimal branding, looks chic and understated especially in the Dune color. I wore it this morning walking the dog in near freezing temperatures and felt very cozy. The website says to size down, but I found I had to size up. I am usually a small or 4/6, but took a medium in the style. Small small was tight around the hips.

Early Christmas Gift

Got this for my girlfriend as an early Christmas gift since it's about to start getting real cold here in Utah. Right off the bat I was very impressed with the DWR coating on this Jacket and the durability of the down. Zippers are top notch, and the fit is technical yet offers greats mobility.

Badlands is not as cream as it seems

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

The coat is very warm. The color badlands is more of a grayish color. The outside layer feels very grainy.

Jacket is so much more wrinkled in person than in the online photo. Also, the sizing is so poorly designed. I?m 5?4?, and it?s way too boxy and long, and not in the good way. The L may fit someone who?s 6? tall at least. Also, most importantly, the design and fill quality is just shoddy, can?t imagine this providing quality warmth when needed.

Well made, great fit, and simple, classic look.

I initially ordered this jacket in Dark Bolt in M and L because I am often a Medium shirt size and a Large/10 pant size (I am 5'6"). The Medium fit great and the hips were not too snug, but there is a double zipper so I can open up the bottom of the jacket if I want more mobility. The Dark Bolt color was more green than yellow, so I returned it for the Light Army, which is a really nice color. I also really like the matted nylon and muted branding. I will wear this jacket every day this winter when I work up north in Minnesota, and plan to pack it for backpacking trips in the Cascades this summer and fall. Seems reasonably water resistant too.
