Why We Like The Ghost Whisperer UL Down Jacket
The original Ghost Whisperer was already one of the lightest down jackets on the market, but we love that Mountain Hardwear decided to go even lighter with the Ghost Whisperer UL Jacket. At a scant six ounces, the Ghost Whisperer UL utilizes down insulation with the highest fill rating available.
1000-fill down doesn't mean this is the warmest, loftiest jackets around, but rather the lightest and most compressible down that you could find. That down adds to the jacket's lightness and lets you pack the whole thing in its own pocket for compact storage. Mountain Hardwear also changed the shell with a 5D ripstop for lighter weight, and it still has a DWR treatment for water-resistance against passing showers or snowfall.

Light and toasty
So lightweight, but really toasty. The only thing that would make it better would be a chest pocket, but then it wouldn’t be UL!

Ultralight backpacker's dream puff
I have taken this puffy on 6 backpacking trips in the Colorado Rockies this season, and it's the best! I am an ultralight-to-lightweight backpacker with a volume obsession when it comes to my pack, and this jacket packs down so small and is so lightweight. Paired with a midlayer, I have been fine in temps down to 30 degrees F. I am a 5'6" size 10/12 woman and the Large is perfect for me, including 2-3 layers under it. It fits under my rain shell just fine. Love the hood. It's a yay for me.

Inconsistent sizing
I bought this jacket as a lightweight option for shoulder season backpacking trips, but unfortunately the sizing does not match up with other mountain hardware products I’ve purchased in the past. Feels like vanity sizing. The small is surprisingly too big and airy and failed to keep me warm. I’m super disappointed because it was a spendy purchase and if it fit right might have been a nice jacket.

Just try it on
I bought this for my wife. She was reluctant until she put it on, now it is a favorite! The color, fit, material, weight and look is amazing!

The perfect insulating layer!
Love it! This jacket is incredibly light but still keep you warm. Actual jacket is a tiny more green than the photo - it's a great color.

LIGHT WEIGHT & WARMEST
Lightest weight, well fit and warmest jacket I own! I would like the sleeves to be longer and sleeve pocket for easier scanning of ski pass (these are minor details). I have worn this jacket skiing at 10,000+ elevation ski days in Utah with temps of -10, with wind chill and snow, and stayed warm.

Buys this jacket.
An absolute beast when it comes to warmth and weights less than a T shirt.

Ultralight, moderately warm, poor quality zippers
Warm and ultralight, but beware: one reason it's ultralight is because the zippers are ultralight garbage. Expect the zippers to last 1-3 years before failing. Our jacket lasted just shy of three years before the zipper exploded catastrophically.
