Could be a great backpack

I had been looking for a new backpack for quite some time and was down to this and the 28 L size. I decided on this one because of the better color options and the lower price. Overall I am happy with this backpack. The storage and organization are very well designed. It looks and feels very good. Many backpacks seem to just lay there - this one has good form even when it's empty so that it looks good and holds your items securely. I use it for grad school, work, and everything else. It won't fit lots of books, but it's not supposed to (that's what bigger bags are for). My only issues with it are (#1) that it does not have a specific pocket for a tablet like the 28 L does, and (#2 - the real issue) that the reflective coating on the TPU front panel is scratching off incredibly easily. It started within a few days of getting it. I haven't even used it for anything outdoors and it is already looking pretty bad. I did not expect to have this type of issue with gear from MH. If it was not for this issue I would give this bag 4 or 5 stars.

Excellent - functional and neat

After trying many different backpacks for commuting to work (walking+train+subway), this is my favorite. The materials are great, the backpack is comfortable, it has an excellent number of pockets in the right places. It has everything I look for: separate compartment for laptop and folders, zippered top-accessible pocket, zippered front-accessible pocket, external water bottle pockets, wide opening main compartment. I also really like the way it looks. It does not look saggy regardless of how empty or full it is. It is quite slim, while still being able to expand out depending on how much is put into it. It has a unique minimal look that I really like, and minimal brand logos. Whoever designed this backpack is a great designer. It is functional and attractive. I almost never write product reviews, but I can't help but praise this backpack. This is my first and only product from Mountain Hardwear which I never heard of before finding this backpack. My only suggestion for improving the backpack is to slightly change the angle of the bottom of the backpack so that it can may sometimes standup upright on its own, which anyway, most backpacks don't.

Folsom 20

I have always been a gear guy and Mountain Hardware is one brand I always go to. With that said I recently purchased the the Folsom back pack for a week long boy scout trip in Northern Alaska. I carried everything from paperwork, water, first aid, gear and clothing, even went on a five mile hike and it was comfortable and fit just right. Plus the orange color looks great too. The zippers worked great and that is one of the areas that I do not want to fail me. From quality to being priced just right this pack was a go to piece of gear. To me having quality gear that you can depend on makes the trips a lot better. James

Durable pack

We purchased this pack for my son who keeps destroying school backpacks. This pack is a step up in quality and durability. The pack fits well and opens wide to stuff books and his lunch inside. He loves the orange and it's easy to spot him. Great pack!!

Folsom 20 backpack

Perfect backpack for a quick day trip. Plenty of pockets for your essentials. However, main compartment could be a little bigger.

Working bag in a day pack form

I usually use backpacks for my work bags (carrying laptops, office supplies, etc). After my cheap Amazon one broke, I decided to check out what MHW had. This bag could not be more perfect. Has 1 compartment solely for the laptop in a padded and soft sleeve. And the second compartment is super spacious. I could probably fit all my camping supplies in it. But the bag isn’t enormous either. It looks great, fits comfortably and is well made. Definitely recommend, especially the “shark” color. It’s gray with a topographical design on it.
