Why We Like The Firefall 2 Jacket
When we bundle up for snowy pow days we trust the Mountain Hardwear Firefall 2 Jacket. Thanks to its burly face fabric and waterproof construction, the outer shell repels the elements and harsh, icy winds. Placing strategic 70D nylon paneling in areas that see abuse from skis over the shoulder and stray branches, the jacket is able to save on weight while remaining durable.

Good, almost great.
Construction seems to be top notch (we'll see how it holds up). Works well as a light shell for split boarding but also warm enough to layer up and ride in cold weather on piste. My only complaint is that the powder skirt is about six inches above the bottom of the jacket (higher than any other jacket I've had) so it sits well above my waistline. The skirt is pretty snug and the grippy silicone makes it grab your mid-layer, even when the skirt is unbuttoned! Its always twisting my mid-layers and makes me feel less mobile in the jacket. Not an issue if your using bibs but otherwise it feels like a major oversight.

A bit bulky
I bought this to cross the middle ground from parka to vest weather, and it has performed as advertised. Good under fleece and flannel when working outside. There's a little too much material in my view, especially around the neck, but I'll let you know when I am out in a snowstorm. Probably just fine.

Good price to quality ratio
Good material. One of the buttons on the snow skirt/waist band didn’t work.

Super solid snow/rain shell. I purchased for ski/touring days. Does get a little hot and a little heavy compared to more pricy brands but overall great jacket that durable.
