    Pilling

    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Small
    • Height: 5'5"
    • Weight: 125lbs

These pants are SO comfortable that I want to live in them, but after about 5 days of heavy use, I had major pulling where my Day bag hit my hips while travelling. For the price I paid, pilling should not occur this quickly! I’ll keep them for hiking since they are so comfy, but I’ll have to find more durable pants for travelling.

    Pilling

Comfy but not as durable as I hoped!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: small
    • Height: 5'5"
    • Weight: 130lbs

I love the shorts, so needed to try the pants! I also loved them for the comfy waist band and stretchy fabric, but they didn't seem durable enough for climbing. I wore them casually and for some yoga, and they were great for those uses. I tried the medium and they stayed on but were definitely a relaxed fit, so the small is much better for me. True to size!

While I wouldn't recommend them for a ton of climbing, they are super comfy for gym climbing, hiking, scrambling, and other adventures.

    "Amazing Pants" - My Fiance

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size

For the record, no I have not tried them on, but after how much my fiancé raves about these pants (every single time she wears them), I may or may not have thought about trying them on. In her words, they are super comfortable from the crag, to the couch, to the bar. She found them to be true to size and definitely worth a buy!

    Great Comfortable Pants

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Small
    • Height: 5'5"
    • Weight: 125lbs

I've used these pants for climbing, hiking, and just lounging around the house. One of my favorite parts is the waistband which is flattering and really comfortable, especially under a harness. I haven't had these on yet when it was rainy outside, but the DWR finish has come in handy when spilling water on myself while trying to drink on bumpy roads. Overall, I'm really happy with these pants and I'm stoked to buy more in their new colors.

    So Comfortable

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 5'6"
    • Weight: 160lbs

I have thicker thighs and had the hardest time finding a hiking pant that would fit well without being too tight on the thighs. I decided to give these a try and I am so glad I did! They have a great amount of stretch but don't get saggy throughout the day. The waistband is more comfortable than any other pants I own and they stay up better than I had anticipated with a pull on waistband. I do wish the pockets were a little more functional, but I'm usually carrying a pack when I wear these so it's not a deal breaker for me. I also love the drawstring at the bottom so I can adjust the hem length depending on what shoes I have on.

    Disappointed

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

    • Weight: 115lbs

I recently purchased these for an 8-day trip to AK. There was 3 days of backpacking and then several day-hikes. The fit was great and love the waistband. But on day 2 of backpacking I noticed the piling had started where my backpack hit my hips. By day 3 it was so noticeable that even my husband remarked on how bad the piling was for brand-new pants. I had read other reviews that talked about the piling and thus expected there would be some over a reasonable period of time. However, the second day of wear is a ridiculously short amount of time in my opinion. These are not exactly cheap pants and I certainly expected better of the Mountain Hardwear brand. Maybe if you are only hiking for shorter periods of time and/or don’t wear a pack they will stay nice looking but any kind of extensive wear is going to produce piling. I am thoroughly disappointed.

    Alexis,
Hi I am the Mountain Hardwear rep and I am sorry to hear you were disappointed in the pant. If you have a picture of the product I'd love to see where it was pilling. We stand behind our products and it may be a warranty issue so would like to see if that is the case. There is a bit of a tradeoff for comfort vs. durability but my wife has hiked in these as well as many of our athletes and I have not heard of this happening. I can be reached at pat@greenriversales.com. These should be pack friendly and hike friendly pants. Thanks,
    Patrick

    Nice pants

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: medium
    • Height: 5'5"
    • Weight: 150lbs

I really like the cut and style of these pants, am mostly commenting here re: sizing. I am usually between a size small and medium-- in these pants, a small will definitely do the trick for me. I'm 5'5", 28 waist, 38 hips- 150 lbs.

    Love em!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

I gave these as a gift to a friend and here is her review:

Great lightweight pant with tremendous versatility. I love the waistband -- they stay up comfortably without pinching my waist. The fabric is breathable, which has been great for long days on the trails. I've most often used these pants to climb. Again, the waistband makes them very comfortable with a harness. The fit is flattering as well. I'm 5'5", 130lbs., with chunky legs the Small fits great.

The only drawbacks that I see with these pants is that they have pilled over time, and the lack of quality pockets. Otherwise, I'd highly recommend adding a pair to your wardrobe!

    Best climbing/hiking pants ever.

I seriously cannot say enough good things about these pants. I just returned from a 2 week road trip to the Rocky Mountains and I literally wore these every day. They are super comfortable and I love the elastic waist. I am a climber and the fabric is super stretchy - perfect for high stepping and stemming. Too many "climbing" pants are not stretchy at all.
The fabric is also water-repellent which was perfect since mountain weather can go from sun to rain to sleet within minutes. And the fabric is super easy to wipe off/clean - I wore these for miles of hiking over mountains and glaciers, multiple uphill approaches and scrambles, and through multi-pitch climbs (complete with snow and rain) and they were still dry, comfortable, didn't stretch out, and looked as clean as day 1. I also own the capri version of these and they are equally as awesome if you're in warmer weather.

For reference, I am 5'3'', 113 lbs and the XS fit perfectly.

    Perfect for Everything

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These Mountain Hardwear Dynama Pants are pretty perfect. Great for travel, backpacking and everything else. Super comfortable with a great stretchy waist band, and cute drawstrings at the cuff in case you want to change the look. Great price, good colors.

    Really nice

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: XS
    • Height: 5'6"
    • Weight: 115lbs

Pros: lightweight, comfortable, cute, great fit. Can layer some tights underneath when it's cold.
Cons: Cinching doesn't stay up, pilling after a lot of use, waist band is bagging out a little bit (I would expect a little better longevity since I always hang dry these).

In all fairness, I've had these pants for 9 months and worn/washed them probably 30-50 times. I would buy another pair despite their flaws.

    Comfy and Functional

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: medium
    • Height: 5'8"

Gave these as a gift to a friend. She said the pants are comfortable, cute AND functional! 5'8'' and got them in Med. They fit pretty well, but are a little long in the legs and wide at the ankles. No big deal, as the cinches on the side of the lower legs make up for a bit of the extra length and totally help the wide ankle. The material is very soft and has a lot of stretch to it, which makes these pants great for activities where you need a full range of motion. The elastic waist band is very comfy and helped make these pants a favorite of mine for traveling as well.

    Amazing fit, super versatile

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

    • Size Bought: XS short
    • Height: 5'4"
    • Weight: 108lbs

How much do i love these pants? SO much

1)these pants have the comfort of a sweatpant but the look of real pants
    2) Hiking, climbing, biking, hanging around town etc multitasker
3)the thin, soft, stretchy material feels like a second skin, and provides protection and breathability, while drying in a snap.
4)the bottoms cinch very prettily, which is useful for climbing or on hot days
    5) they come in 3 different inseams - short, regular and long. How awesome is that??

Note to backcountry: please carry the short inseam! thanks!!!

    The Perfect Backpacking Pants

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: XS-Regular Length
    • Height: 5'0"
    • Weight: 105lbs

I hope Mountain Hardwear never stops making these pants because they are now my holy grail. I ended up buying the XS in regular length despite the fact that I'm only 5' tall. The regular length sat nicely over my trail runners for backpacking but required cinching to be worn with sandals. I am thin and athletic and the XS fit very well. The waistband is the BEST THING EVER on the trail. It's a little less stretchy than I imagined at first which may be why some people suggest sizing up. However, I found that it was snug and comfortable without much stretching. The width minimizes any muffin-top.

I wore my pants daily on a 230 miles backpacking trip this summer. They have a slight bit of wear on the thighs... and some sap stains on the buttocks from a less than ideal lunch seat (oops, my fault!). But, no tears or other issues. They will see many more trails.

From an aesthetic standpoint, my pants fit and look great. Prior to the buttocks tree sap stains, I was happy to wear them around town doing errands, etc. On the trail, they got a lot of attention from fellow hikers for looking incredibly comfortable and still feminine. I wouldn't sacrifice function for style in the wilderness, but I appreciate when to two coexist! I currently have Purple Dahlia which is a beautiful and rich burgundy-purple color. I'm ordering a second pair now as trail backup... and for town.

    Sweet pants!

It's pretty tough to find cute + functional hiking pants. I like these a lot- they're comfortable, breathable, and seem durable. Took a star off for slightly awkward length/width around ankle (too short by a hair and a little too "straight legged") but they look good cinched up. I kept them since they were on sale and a good price even though I'll always wear them cinched due to the awkward ankles.

    I would marry these pants.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: medium
    • Height: 5'9"
    • Weight: 140lbs

I bought these last-minute before a two-month trip around Scandinavia in summer and they ended up being my go-to's for hiking, touring a city, biking, and casual meals out. I regularly hand-washed them and they were dry within a couple of hours. You can dress them up (within reason) or down, they are warm, and pack down to nothing. One of the best purchases I have ever made, seriously. I'd buy them in every color there is. True to size, too. If you're truly between sizes, though, I'd go up.

    Unanswered Question

Is the fabric noisy? With 96% nylon, I'm afraid the pants will sound 'swishy'. Thanks!
