    Always take the direct.

There's a bridge upstream, but that would add three miles to your approach into the alpine, so secure Mountain Hardwear's Direttissima 50 Outdry Backpack and cross that river with confidence that your valuables will stay dry. Its Outdry construction guarantees a watertight construction so your layers, meals, climbing gear, and ski equipment won't be a soggy mess when you reach the summit.

Mountain Hardwear made this pack out of ballistic nylon and HardWear X-Ply ripstop for serious abrasion-resistance. Its HardWave suspension conforms to your back's curve for even weight distribution when hauling heavy loads, but can also be removed with the aluminum stay and waist belt when you're packing light. The Direttissima also features an A-frame ski carry system, loops for ice axes, a crampon pocket, and gear loops at the waist belt for climbing equipment.

    Great Suspension

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I was able to take this pack out on a short backpacking trip off of the trail at Mineral Fork . I am always really pleased with the weight of these MountainHardwear packs along with the sturdiness of their Hardwave suspension. I found it very comfortable and it distributed weight really evenly on my hips. I truly felt pretty minimal pressure on my shoulders from the weight of the pack. I'm an avid skier, so I like that it has an A frame ski carrying system and plenty of loops for any other gear. I tested it in some light rainfall, and found that the watertight construction withstood the reputation that its name gives it. The only issue I had was that the waist belt is clipped on one side. Which was a bit awkward at times, rather than being able to clip the pack together in the middle of my torso. But overall, great pack!

    Great Pack With Good Organization

What makes a good pack? A lot of easy to remember pockets for organization. This pack even comes with a removable top lid for day hikes. I was surprised by how comfortable the pack was, even when loaded to the brim. The OutDry technology is a nice touch to secure your belongings without having to worry about everything getting soaked. My favorite pocket is the front stash pocket, I always found myself putting things away there.
