    Versatility for the vertical world.

The lightweight Mountain Hardwear Direttissima 35 Backpack adapts to any climbing adventure whether you're alpine climbing for a day or single-pitch sport climbing for just a few hours. This pack has enough space for a lot of gear (including gear loops at the hip-belt for more gear) when you're planning on a long alpine ascent. You can also remove the top-lid, padded hip-belt (or replace it with the included webbing belt), and framesheet when you only need a single rack for short climbs, and the long compression straps and multiple lash points ensure excellent stability for smaller loads.

Mountain Hardwear gave the Direttissima a HardWave framesheet that conforms to the curves of your back and distributes your load's weight evenly, and dual-density shoulder straps keep you comfortable and ready for the climbing wall. HardWear X-Ply ripstop reinforcements strengthen this pack so you can climb with it for a long time. The Direttissima also features one zippered security pocket in the removable lid, an intuitive ice axe and tool carry system with pass-through sleeves for your picks, and a convenient reinforced grab handle.

    Perfect Alpine Pack

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

My boyfriend used this pack on our trip up the Grand Teton last month and it held up great. The material is super durable, there's tons of different places to strap on extra gear, and it has the perfect amount of padding -- not so much that it's excessive, but also enough to stay comfortable during an all-day epic in the alpine. This pack would be a great choice for short backpacking trips, too.

This might be my new favorite 30-40 L option for backpacking. This baby is bomber. I can't imagine ever breaking a strap, a zipper, or tearing a hole on this thing. When it's in your hands, you'll know exactly what I mean. It feels like you couldn't even get a bullet through this 400D HD nylon with Watertight OutDry construction (don't try it). But seriously, this baby will be able to hold up to the punishment that you dole out to it on the trail, or when you're brushing up against the rock wall. I really liked the comfortability of this carry. The HardWave suspension does a really nice job of evenly displacing the weight of the pack on your hips. The amount of room in the pack really surprised me that it is a 35 L pack. I felt roomier than other 35 L's that I've used in the past. While this may not be the pack for someone seeking a superlite minimalist pack, there is no doubt that this baby will do the job for a 2-3 day backpacking trip and will be able to take a beating in the process (by the elements and abrasion of any kind). So Sick!

I can’t tell by the front photo of the pack. Does it have a sleeve/pocket for crampons or a shovel?
