Imperfect, but exactly what I need
I love this backpack. I had a J Tree 30 previously, and felt it was just a bit too big for my needs. This bag is just right in capacity, while always having the perfect amount of extra space to toss in a sweatshirt. The materials are strong and well built, leaving me confident to really use and abuse this bag. The handles on my J Tree were one of my favorite features, and I’m glad to see the Camp 4 has the same handles. I’ve modified the bag some. It had four slots for writing utensils, but I ripped those seams and turned it into a larger pocket. I feel the pocket would have been a better use of the space from the start, especially given the bag’s large pocket opposite the slots with space to lay pens comfortably. I find the top access pocket has little utility. Anything with any real depth makes it kind of dig into the wearer’s back. Lastly, the closing mechanism is flawed, and does slip open. The bag’s top does tend to stay folded closed though, despite this. I don’t see it as a huge deal, I’ve never had it fully open or lost anything. I plan to modify it soon to fully remedy the issue.
