0 Degree Bishop Pass for 5 Night November Walled Tent Camp in Montana

Lightweight Comfortable and Large Enough for 6'1", 205 Male; exchanged for 'long' after receiving 'regular' originally that was a bit too tight with shoulders and length.

Pretty solid bag

Bought about 6 weeks ago, and just used on an eastern Sierra trip. Temp was down to 8-10 degrees overnight. Sleeping bag held its own. It’s a solid bag for the price and I think competes with bags double the cost. The goretex is a nice addition. A great choice for a lower priced 0 degree bag

Decent - Sleeps a Bit Cold Under 25 Degree Temps

Decent enough bag, a good compromise between weight and function. I was out in 25 degree dry conditions last week, and was cold even with long underwear and a medium down coat. I would call this a decent three season bag, but not especially warm for temps under about 25 degrees or so.

Buyer beware

Only buy this bag if you sleep exactly flat on your back with your arms folded across your chest. Any other sleeping position is pure misery. There is no room for your arms at your side or anywhere up near your neck. This particular bag ruined a backwoods trip for me since I couldn’t recover from each days effort.

Beyond terrible

I brought this on a back country elk hunt in Colorado. The temps got down to 28 degrees and I froze in this thing. I had a Nemo sleeping pad under me, I worn heavy wool socks, expedition weight REI long John’s, a fleece sweat shirt and a stocking cap. It was miserable. We were on cots inside a canvas tent so wind wasn’t a factor. This bag completely let me down.

Smart Compromise

This is a cold weather sleeping bag for nights below freezing. I have not had a chance to test it, yet. It appears to be very well made and fits me quite well. I think you would have to spend quite a lot more to get a lighter bag that has a zero degree Fahrenheit survival rating that you can trust. 650 fill power down is a smart compromise.

Warm and Bulky

I used this only for one long weekend at 10,700 feet on ironically just under Bishop’s Pass. Temp was right at freezing all nights. Very warm for that temp. Would have been comfortable to 15 no problem. The bag overall is roomier than most mummies. I ordered the Long to get that. The zipper was robust and could use zipper grease as it was really hard to use. The hood was easy to crimp and stayed crimped. All positives. But the big negative was size. In my 65 liter bag it took up 75% of the main compartment. Even with a compression sack It would be very bulky. Simply to much volume for backpacking for anything more than a night or two. Car camping in cold temps a 5 star. Not for Bishop’s Pass and beyond.
