Great Jacket, but not for Layering
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it
- Size Bought:
- Large
I really like this jacket, but in the end sent it back because it was a little too tight in the core for layering. Its lightweight but not as light as something like the Black Diamond Alpine start or mountain Hardwear Kor Airshell. It feels like a good jacket for scrambling in cool spring conditions or for hiking above tree line when its very windy out. But it didnt allow me to layer under it very well. Its too thick for warm conditions and not large enough for cooler to cold conditions that require layers. At most a thin fleece vest. I tried it with an Atom LT vest and it works but feels a little restricting. The rest of the fit was great and the hood is really nice. Looks great too. If I had a little more room int he chest and core area I would have kept it. Really nice jacket if it fits your right.

Been loving the squall for everything mountains! When climbing it cuts the wind while staying locked in under the harness, with no more muffintop creeping out of the harness. Its also great for backcountry skiing and h=the hood fits over all helmets!
