    Performance on the mountain.

Trek across nearby hikes or long-distance alpine adventures with the Mountain Equipment Men's Ibex Softshell Pant. Its Exolite 210 softshell pairs an abrasion-resistant exterior with a four-way stretch interior for an ideal balance between protection and performance. Mountain Equipment added a DWR treatment to shed rainfall, and it designed the pant with a trim alpine fit for lightweight packability.

Mountain Equipment also constructed the Ibex with a gusseted crotch to ensure full mobility on the trail. The pant's microfleece-lined waist wicks moisture, while the integrated belt gives a low-profile secure fit. Ankle zips assist with on-and-off, and there are multiple zippered pockets for the well-organized traveler.

    Perfect All-Around Softshell Pants

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 32 waist
    • Height: 6'2"
    • Weight: 175lbs

I bought my first pair of Ibex pants a few years ago and beat them to death. When it came time for a new pair of softshells I thought I’d try out some other brands and see if there was anything else I preferred. After trying literally every option from every major brand (Arc’teryx Gamma LT, Arc’teryx Sigma FL, OR Cirque, Rab Torque, etc.) I confidently purchased another pair of Ibex pants.

They are freakishly comfortable, durable, and versatile. I climb and boulder in them, I’ve taken them on various mountaineering trips, skinned up and skied down mountains, Ice climbed, and hunted in them. After installing an elastic drawstring in the preexisting lower leg hem channel, they are form fitting and tapered at the ankle like joggers for climbing. When unzipped the gusseted lower leg fits over alpine ski boots. They have a ton of pockets without looking like cargo pants and show barely any wear after many crampon mistakes. The mid weight material was warm enough for high mountains yet somehow isn’t overly hot for shoulder seasons. The integrated belt is comfortable under a harness, pack, or hardshells.

I will say with 100% confidence a better pair of softshell pants do not exist.

    Versatile, Durable, Comfortable

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 30/Short
    • Height: 5'8"
    • Weight: 150lbs

The Ibex Mountain Pant has become an immediate go-to in my quiver of soft goods. I've appreciated the comfort and durability of this versatile soft-shell while guiding, hiking, tackling moderate alpine objectives, and climbing ice in Southwestern Colorado.

The fit is top notch, allowing amazing freedom of movement, even with base and mid-layers underneath. The waist and thighs of the pant have been compatible with any layer combination, while the ankle is a perfect fit for mountain boots, without excess material to snag your crampons.

The integrated belt is an awesome feature! The closure is low profile and secure, allowing great compatibility with a packs padded hip-belt.

With a great combination of fit, comfort, and utility, these pants have performed above and beyond from day hikes, to long days in technical terrain. Super impressed!

    Mountain Equipment softshell pant

I bought these pants for my dad for Christmas, and he loves them. He lives in Rhode Island on the coast, and it can get really cold and windy in the winter. He said these pants are awesome for snowshoeing, winter hiking, or even just walking the dog on a really cold day. They fit true to size and he said the quality is amazing.

      Perfect for Winter Mountain Biking

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: 34 waist
      • Height: 5'8"
      • Weight: 160lbs

This is my first purchase of any type soft-shell gear and I have been tremendously pleased. I had been hesitant to buy soft-shell gear for my primary winter activities of skiing and mountain biking. For skiing - my concern is lack of full water proof protection - especially in back country situations. For winter mountain biking my concern was breath-ability.
I'm still a hard-shell disciple for skiing but now an enthusiastic convert to soft-shell pants for winter mountain biking.
I have used the Mountain Equipment - Ibex soft shell pant on several mountain bike rides this fall in miserable Upstate NY conditions (cold, wet, snow) and have been very pleased with the performance. On several rides with temperatures in the mid twenties, the pants with a light weight base layer performed perfectly - good breath-ability, no overheating. On rides with the temps in the mid to upper thirties and no base layer - again they performed perfectly. In light rain, wet snow - protection has been excellent.
The pants are well made and fit true to size. The stretchy fabric has a tapered fit (not baggy) offering freedom of motion - perfect for mountain biking.
I highly recommend this quality product for winter mountain biking and also anticipate using for hiking, cross country skiing.

      Perfect Mountain Pants

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: 34
      • Height: 5'10"
      • Weight: 200lbs

I like the stretchy pants..... What's not to love about these. Unbelievable durability and breathability. They shed light rain and snow, have a really comfortable lining on the waist. The waist is clean so it's comfortable with a harness or pack belt. I like that there's not too much fabric at the cuff so I can watch my footwork and don't have a lot of extra bunching under gaiters. Like a lot of my favorite pieces of gear, this pant is misleadingly simple. It doesn't look that special until I look into my closet. I have pants just like this from 2 other manufacturers, and this is my go to!

These are some incredible softshell pants that are extremely versatile. Fit it true to size and length is spot on. These are great for a magnitude of winter sports from snow shoeing, ice climbing, night trail running and even mountain biking. They excel in weather between 15 and 40 degrees. Lately however they have been my go to for winter mountain biking and night trail running as they are extremely water resistant and highly breathable.

They are super comfortable and taking them with me to climb Kilimanjaro next week. I strongly recommend anyone and everyone purchase this pare of soft shell pants. I used them between 50-65 adventures. Holding up really well.
