Nice Trousers

Familiarity:
I've used it several times
Size Bought:
38
Weight:
200

Love the tailored fit, not tight or relaxed. Feels like a running pant with the thin, flexible fabric, but with practical pockets. It comes with a belt, but removable. It has cargo pockets that vents, double zipper fly, and double button snaps. This will be my new everyday and everywhere trousers.

Perfect All-Around Softshell Pants

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer
Size Bought:
32 waist/long
Height:

I bought my first pair of Ibex pants a few years ago and beat them to death. When it came time for a new pair of softshells I thought I?d try out some other brands and see if there was anything else I preferred. After trying literally every option from every major brand (Arc?teryx Gamma LT, Arc?teryx Sigma FL, OR Cirque, Rab Torque, etc.) I confidently purchased another pair of Ibex pants. They are freakishly comfortable, durable, and versatile. I climb and boulder in them, I?ve taken them on various mountaineering trips, skinned up and skied down mountains, Ice climbed, and hunted in them. After installing an elastic drawstring in the preexisting lower leg hem channel, they are form fitting and tapered at the ankle like joggers for climbing. When unzipped the gusseted lower leg fits over alpine ski boots. They have a ton of pockets without looking like cargo pants and show barely any wear after many crampon mistakes. The mid weight material was warm enough for high mountains yet somehow isn?t overly hot for shoulder seasons. The integrated belt is comfortable under a harness, pack, or hardshells. I will say with 100% confidence a better pair of softshell pants do not exist.

Just okay for winter/wet use

I did alot of research on pants for winter hikes in the White Mtns of New England and Maine and was excited to try these out but have found these to be sub-par pants for wet wintery conditions. When snowshoeing with knee length gaiters, these still somehow get wet underneath. If you're breaking trail or rubbing up against snowy trees, these pants will get wet and will retain moisture. They don't dry quickly either. The good. They fit very well, are comfortable, I appreciate the zippered pockets very much, and the belt is nice. I think they'd perform well in fall and in the late summer, when its cooler. They are warmer than normal soft shells. They may be fine for situations where you're likely not to get wet or come in contact with much snow, but I have soft shells that cost half the price that perform better under wet/snowy conditions.
