Summers spent at high altitudes.
It's simple science really: the higher the climb, the cooler the temperatures. This theory proves quite helpful when summer's sun bakes down nearby crags, and you're forced to drag your climbing gear up long approaches for some shady respite. Luckily, the Mountain Equipment Men's Comici Short doesn't feel as sweaty as you do. On the contrary, its quick-drying softshell fabric feels ready for miles and miles of hiking followed by rough routes and wicked climbs. It's durable enough to climb offwidths and chimneys—if you're the type of climber who wears shorts on those kinds of climbs—and light and stretchy enough to wear at the gym when winter forces you back inside.

Cool shorts but runs extra small
- Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
- Fit: Runs small
- Size Bought: 34
These are very nice looking shorts but runs very small. I ordered size 34 where my jean size is actually 33 (knowing that U.K brands always runs small) but couldn't snap these comicis together. Runs even smaller than Arc'teryx Lefroy shorts.
Great Design & Function, Poor Durability
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: 32
- Height: 6'
- Weight: 165lbs
The fit, stretch, pockets and look are spectacular. But these got a giant tear in the butt on my first mountain bike ride ---
heard about that trail ripping me a new one all day from my buddies. For trail running and bouldering they seem tough enough, but not for backpacking, aggressive climbing or mtb duty. (They did patch up well with Gear Aid Tenacious Max Flex tape.)
