Where less is ultra.
It's simple math, really; the less weight you're hauling on a ski tour, the easier the ascent, and while judging jackets based off weight might be a tedious effort that doesn't make much of a difference, it's still worth noting that the average ski jacket weighs around two pounds and the Montane Men's Ultra Tour Jacket weighs less than a single pound. With less weight comes more packing space too, because the Ultra Tour's thin, waterproof, breathable Pertex Shield fabric packs down small to leave more room for mountaineering gear. In order to minimize the design, Montane opted out of the powder skirt because an adjustable hem and not falling while skiing work just fine. There are still underarm vents though, because skinning under snowfall is a sweaty job.

- Q & A
Are the seams of this jacket taped? I'm looking for lightweight shell to use in various races, most notably UTMB, where the race regulations require fully taped seams.
