It foregoes down in favor of Primaloft Gold Luxe synthetic insulation, which isn't quite as lofty or lightweight, but stays warm even if gets wet, so getting caught in a shower or squall won't spell soggy disaster. Montane also stitched the shell from Pertex Quantum, a water-resistant and seriously tough fabric, and finished it with a DWR coating to repel water and help you stay even dryer and warmer.

Peaq Down lining slides easily over your baseleyers for smooth movement and wicks moisture to prevent sweat from accumulating, and the Hi-Q's articulated arms are designed to be raised without lifting them hem of the jacket, so you can reach for holds without exposing any skin. Montane engineered the insulated hood to be low-profile, so it fits easily under a helmet, and it topped the Hi-Q off with hem and cuff adjustments to keep your body heat in and freezing drafts out.
