Like my Montane Prism jacket, this Montane down jacket is superb. A FEW notches above the competitors. The 800+ fill down combined with the pullover design makes the jacket SOOOOO warm it's unbelievable. I love it. The Pertex Quantum is super strong and quite thick compared to the average pertex. 3 point hood adjust and hem adjustment too. If you are looking for a mountain layer (down feathers), look no further. I purchased mine from France a few years ago before they were in America. Montane sizing is a little smaller,, plus it's a pullover so you should size up one. Backcountry's description of the jacket doesn't give any of the real details that show the quality of the jacket so I would read up on it on another site if you have any doubts.

    Perfect Cold Weather Down Jacket

This pullover is awesome because it uses 800 fill down, and A LOT OF IT. I mean they stuffed this with 800 fill as much as the other companies stuff a jacket with 650 fill. It must be AT LEAST 4oz of down. It is VERY warm and light weight and because it's a pullover, heat doesn't escape like it would with a full zipper front. The pertex quantum outer fabric is really very durable and lightweight and the jacket has all the pull string adjustments you would want on the hem and hood. This is the perfect mountain down jacket because the down is very warm and the pullover is perfect for trapping heat in.

I agree with Christoper's assesment of this jacket having A LOT of down. I do not own the pullover, but I tried it on in a gear shop in Colorado Springs and I immediately noticed the amount of loft and down in it. It is STUFFED! I would say sizing is like an Arc Teryx ''Trim" fit. I'm 5'9'', 34 waist, 42 chest and a size LARGE fit me, but snug, with room for only a baselayer or slim mid layer like an R1 fleece. The only reasons I did not buy it was the price tag, and I just finished buying several other pieces this Fall. This jacket is definitely on my radar though, I had never seen or heard of Montane before. Note: According to Montane's website, the jacket weighs 16.33 ounces and is STUFFED with 5.3 ounces of 800 fill down. This jacket is heavier than most, such as Arc's Cerium LT, or Feathered Friends EOS(my Eos in size LG weighs 13 oz.), but I would guess it is way warmer due to the amount of down. The Eos has 3.5 ounces of 900 fill, and the Cerium has even less than that at 850 fill. Do your research..... this jacket truly has A LOT of down in it and box baffles in front! Cheers!

The Featherlike down pro pull on is very unique in that the entire front of the jacket is box-baffled, whereas the sleeves and back is sewn-through. This means you get extra warmth with no cold spots up front, with more breathability in the sleeves and back. As the name suggests, it's super light, weighing in at around 10oz, and packs down very small (into it's own pocket). It's face fabric is Pertex diamond-fuse, which is a super tight weave that is extremely durable and weather-resistant .It's finished off with nice features such as the two-way center zip to dump heat, which also gives access to the hung- mesh chest pocket; a great place to keep your phone where it will stay warm whilst easily accessible, so you can capture a pic of the yeti that's running by.
