Ready for rocky approaches.
Approaches to climbs aren't your average hiking trail; they're more like goat trails with chaotic terrain ranging from scree fields to actual climbing sections. So outfit your foot in the Millet Men's Rockway Approach Shoe the next time you head out on a climb. The Rockway protects your foot with water-repellent suede and a rubber rand. Millet's Roc Approach Fit makes this shoe surprisingly flexible for how durable it is. This shoe has a moisture-wicking pigskin lining, and there's a recycled micro EVA midsole underfoot for cush. Vibram's reliable rubber comes with an Ibex tread for traction at lesser known crags without any identifiable approach.

- Q & A
Great shoe until they fall apart
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
- Fit: True to size
I wore these shoes for about a year constantly trying to repair them. The outer sole came delaminated pretty much everywhere and started within the first two months. Granted, I was using them heavily on hikes, big walls, and approaches to crags. I like Millet, but I don't like these shoes. Would NOT buy again.
Who needs approach shoes in Miami??

I do! I travel quite often to National Parks and places that have rough terrains. I appreciate a comfortable shoe as much as the next guy. I did some bridge hiking and light indoor bouldering with the Rockway Approach Shoe and hope this review helps you out ;)
While the shoe fits perfect to size and the sole support felt amazingly comfortable, I also felt the Mid top part of the shoe rubbing on my ankle often.
I am 6'2'' 180lbs of lean muscle and this shoe has total traction and protection of my feet, no doubt! I am a Vibram sole advocate. Great technology! This shoe seems like it will last two lifetimes.
I'm sometimes focused on looks rather than feel. This shoe looks great from a profile side view position, but not so pretty from a birds eye view. I don't know, I kind of would like to see a more bright/modern version of this approach shoe.
I still haven't put these bad boys to work on the trails of Zion National Park, but the long walks and jogs I have trained in the city have felt effortless.
Summary: Solid shoe!! I would have given this approach shoe 5 stars if the mid-top wouldn't have rubbed me the wrong way and a burst style would have graced the shoe.

From the editors at Backpacker: The Vibram IBEXT outsole is predictably sticky, but unlike a rock shoe has flat, shallow lugs. The lugs are so densely packed though, that there's a ton of surface contact. We had gecko-like grip on steep slabs, but could still tear through loose gravel and soft trail, thanks to the lugs....
