    It’s for your hands.

You can never have too much climbing tape! This metolius tape is great; sticky, easy to tear, and it protects your hands! I think the Trango Eurotape is just a little bit stickier, so I generally prefer that, but this definitely does the job!

      For splitters!

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Going out to the desert and wonder what sort of sticky material might make your hands hurt less? Maybe you should buy yourself some Metolius tape!

      Tape!

jamming hurts less with taped hands!
I think it is important to have either technique or tape -
Metolius' tape is less sticky than the trango tape and I think it best for tape gloves while the euro tape is probably better for supportive finger taping .

        Make Cracks More Pleasant

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I always tape up when I'm putting my hands in cracks. I have found that having tape on your hands help with sticking in the cracks and make it more comfortable too. Figure out how to best tape your hands and do it.

        GR8 TAPE

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This tape works for covering flappers, making into a tape glove, or any other climbing use! Nice grip and flexibility, and of course reflects Metolius' reputation as a great brand.

        Top Tape

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I haven't been able to find a tape that sticks as well, or is as durable as the Metolius tape for climbing gloves. It sticks great, and will last until you decide you want a fresh pair of gloves to protect your hands. It works great for taping up any nagging tendons to prevent further injury as well.

        The standard in climbing tape

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Its tape, it holds up to abuse and does its job. Its also easy to rip, which is always a plus! Perfect for use as gloves for jamming your hands into cracks or for taping scrapes or fingers for some additional support after minor injuries.

        Great Stuff

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is some really great tape, probably the best kind of tape. It does what tape does and works real well. Easy to tear a strip off, make some tape gloves, isn't expensive, not too sticky, but also not crap.

        It's a wonderful tape.

Which is better or do you guys prefer tape or chalk?

Tape and chalk serve different purposes. Tape supports ligaments and protects hands from abrasive rock. Chalk keeps the hands dry so they don't slip off of holds. So, there really isn't an answer to your question.
