Why We Like The Merrell Speed Eco Waterproof Hiking Shoe
The Speed Eco Waterproof is a slimmed-down hiking shoe that's made with more recycled materials than other Merrells. Best for fast hikers or easier trails, the Speed feels light on our feet while featuring Vibram outsoles with 4mm lugs to dig into a range of hiking surfaces. The "Eco" refers to this shoe's eco-friendly construction, including recycled materials in the uppers, midsoles, and outsoles and 100% recycled laces, webbing, lining, and footbed covers to reduce waste and use of virgin materials.

Rio and Buenos Aires
For me they were supportive in the right way for my ball-of-the-foot neuroma, and and at the same time, light and able to slip on. I bought two for my South America three week trip, both waterproof and net. I had no pain issues with 12000+ steps a day!!

Awesome Ecos
Very comfortable and well built. I walk from 5 to 10 miles a day and these shoes provide excellent support. My feet and legs are not tired after walking.

Quality comfortable shoe
Great show, plenty of cushion with ample arch support. So far have held up well to every day wear.

Following my back surgery I was looking for a supportive walking shoe and find hiking shoes to be better than walking shoes. This shoe is very, very comfortable but doesn’t have the support I need for long term walking.

Great fit, great shoe, just not great on my ankles
These shoes are super comfortable and are the perfect size/fit. My ankles keep getting super chewed up every time I wear these, though, to the point where I noticably hobble back home. I'm hoping they'll properly break in and make my ankles happy eventually, but for now I can only give these shoes 4 stars.

Comfortable shoe
Great wear from the beginning walk. I walk on urban trails. Only caution is they are like skates on ice

Great overall shoe
My husband and I both purchased the Speed Eco Waterproof for trips to Norway, Iceland and then a safari in East Africa. The shoes are super-comfortable and performed well on all types of surfaces. We are not super hikers but walked a lot in the Northern climates. They kept us warm in cold climates and were fine in the heat of Kenya and Tanzania where we walked less and were in safari vehicles. They are a little softer on my feet than my old MOAB lowcuts which I will probably never use again.

Initial thoughts.
The initial feel is quite stiff and inflexible. i am quite used to Merrill fitting well at the start.
