I used these on a steep, boulder-strewn approach, climbed 2000 feet of low class 5 slab, traversed a rocky ridge between summits, and then ran 3.5 miles downhill in these things all within 12 hours of removing the tags. Couldn't be happier with a shoe's performance right out of the box. They grip well and are incredibly comfortable for the abuse I gave them. Would recommend to anyone for just about anything outside.

Kudos to the Ontario 85 for proving that a boot can have both an initially comfortable feel (minimal to no break in needed) and can provide long lasting comfort on 10 mile hikes. This boot is perfect for anyone looking for a dependable hiking shoe (I would't take this backpacking) that accommodates a relatively wide foot. Although these boots are wide they do run a bit short compared to other brands such as Solomon (I wear a 10) and Vasque (10.5). To gain some perspective, I wear a Vans street-shoe in an 11 with some room. The Vibram soles provide that nice cush while still gripping like a spider. My one issue was that my feet did get a bit hot indoors, so if you are looking for a summer hiking boot, this may not be the best choice (I prefer Chacos). This boot is also extremely easy to take on and off because there are only one set of lace-hooks which is a huge plus to person who doesn't have time to fully lace up a boot every time they want to go out in them. Overall: I love this boot. The Ontario 85 will undoubtedly have your feet warm and dry all winter without sacrificing traction and comfort, providing that comfort to wear day in and day out.

My husband's shoe sizes vary between 10.5-11.5. When he's doing an activity, like playing basketball or hiking, he typically orders 11.5. We tried the 11 and the 11.5 and he ended up keeping the larger size in the Olive. The 11.5 gave his toes more room, which is nice when hiking down the mountain. We hiked many miles in Colorado and his feet never ached once. He said he really liked the shoes. The actual shoe looked just like the photo. It's a nice neutral color but also does not show dirt. Obviously the shoe gets dirty hiking, but the lighter color hides it pretty well.
