Ontario 85 Mesh Mid Waterproof Hiking Boot

When choosing a hiking boot, it can be challenging to decide between a burly boot with ample protection and a lightweight boot that's comfortable to wear throughout long days in the mountains. Merrell strikes a balance between the two with this modernized version of the Ontario 85 Mid Waterproof Hiking Boot, which features a waterproof construction and increased ankle support while keeping efficiency in mind. The mesh lining paired with a suede-leather outer balances durability and breathability, so you can push through long miles in technical terrain with complete confidence in your footwear. An EVA foam midsole offers cushioning support wth an extremely low weight penalty for increased comfort and efficiency. Meanwhile, the DRY BARRIER membrane encourages you to venture off the beaten path without worrying about getting your socks wet.

  • Waterproof hiking boot offers protective, lightweight support
  • Vibram rubber sole supplies grippy traction on wet rocks and roots
  • Suede upper is abrasion-resistant while maintaining a sleek profile
  • Metal lacing hardware lasts through years of use and abuse

I can't write enough about these boots. I went on a limb because there were no reviews yet but I knew that Merrell is a strong hiking brand. The boots are light, breathe-able, but also keep your feet dry and warm. No need to break them in. I bought them for a 6-day trip to Utah, and wore them for the first time. No blisters, no bleeding, no aches, or pains. I hiked around 40 miles in these boots on moderate-hard hikes, went through a few streams and feet stayed dry. I have not yet tried them in the winter, however I feel as long as you have a good sock on they should be set! This boot is true to size, I wear a size 7 and bought a size 7. There is still adequate room if I need to wear a thicker sock, but not enough room where you slide around or don't feel comfortable.
