Breathable and waterproof boots for all-weather hiking.

Just because it's summer doesn't mean the trails will be dry, but Merrell's Moab Mid Men's Waterproof Hiking Boot doesn't care if your way is sloppy or sandy. It's built with a leather and mesh upper that's lightweight and cool, but Merrell also included an M Select Dry membrane that keeps your feet dry when the going turns soggy. The Moab is equally at home on rugged terrain, thanks to an M Select Fit.Eco contoured EVA footbed, Air Cushion heel, and EVA footframe that work together to support and cushion your tired pups. Debris is a feature of trail life whether it's wet or dry, but the Moab's bellowed tongue will keep pebbles and sticks out of your socks, while the tough toe cap and heel counter keep your feet stable and protected when you're hopping through alpine boulder fields or kicking steps into patches of frozen spring snow high in the alpine.

    Go with Gore-Tex!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've owned multiple pairs of both (waterproof & Gore.) The Merrell waterproof/breathable membrane just doesn't measure up. If repelling and venting moisture is important for you, drop the extra dough and get the Gore. You won't regret it! If keeping out the wet stuff isn't an issue, just get the moab ventilator. That said, the moab is my go to light hiker. There is a reason this has been the Flagship model for Merrell for roughly a decade. once again, the "waterproof" model is trash.

Comfortable, wore out a little quick.

Right out of the box I took these for a 100 mile trip on the Uinta Highline trail. They fit very well and gave me no blisters. They wore in very quick, but as with most shoes this means they wear out a little quick. I noticed the EVA footbed compressed down without much use, but this is expected in comparison to shoes with a PU footbed. I also noticed that the little rubber bit on the end of the toe peeled back after a couple of days, though this is not an issue. All in all these shoes are great out of the box and a decent value and I would recommend, especially for people with slightly wide feet.

    Very Surprised.

Been hearing a lot of negatives on MerrelL lately. These boots have been taking a huge beating from me this summer and fall. I have put hundreds of miles of bushwacking and hunting on them and they are still great.

    Excellent boots; excellent value

I've had these boots for several weeks now. I broke them in by wearing them to work. They've been on the trail now for about 50 miles, and I have nothing but great reports on them. They carried me through the entire Buffalo River Trail this past week. What I love the most is how light they are, and how grippy the soles are. I did slide a pair of Superfeet insoles into them, as the provided insoles were very thin. What I have not done yet is get them sloppy wet.

    Overall, I couldn't be happier.
