Moab 2 Mid Waterproof Hiking Boot

Rain or shine, the Merrell Men's Moab 2 Mid Waterproof Hiking Boot offers rest-assured traction, comfort, and protection as you navigate rough terrain. Now, the Moab 2 isn't reinventing the wheel—this boot simply touts a few new updates to bolster its comfort and support levels, and in turn ensuring you a more enjoyable hiking experience.

Like its predecessor series, the Moab 2 is equipped with a waterproof and breathable M Select Dry membrane, which keeps your foot well defended against accidental puddle slips or light moisture. Meanwhile, the suede upper is fortified with mesh inserts to promote added breathability and comfort. An EVA footbed features arch and heel support, and the EVA midsole (along with the air cushion in heel) guarantees out-of-the-box comfort, support, and shock absorption—all of which are key necessities when hiking. And, last but certainly not least, the Vibram TC5+ outsole provides unencumbered traction underfoot thanks to its 5mm lugs and multi-directional design.

  • Adaptive hiking boot for hiking in wet or dry terrain
  • M Select Dry is waterproof, yet breathable
  • Ventilated upper with performance suede overlays
  • Contoured EVA footbed touts added arch and heel support
  • Air cushion in the heel absorbs shock and offers stability

Had soo many Merrel for over 25 years have come to expect good craftsmanship. These were given to me as a birthday present. Wore them maybe 3-4 times into town. Did 2 hikes in muddy and rocky terrain. and the tow bumper started coming unglued. This is the beginning of the end and Merrel customer service would offer no solution or assistance. I would highly advise to skip right over these and Merrel has just lost one of their most loyal customers. How do I still have a pair from 22 years in good condition that went up and down countless mountains for decades and these new ones came unglued immediately? Have seen this with other brands. A few changes in quality control and things good terrible for the consumer. Tons of other options out there, will never buy Merrel anything ever again. Buyer beware.

So I debated on several pairs of boots and chose these. Seem to be of good quality. I plan on using them for backpacking and some around the house. They fit me very true to size and the price was something I could afford. The vibram soles perform well on any surface. Only thing I would change is the insoles. Maybe an ortholite or similar. UPDATE 4 7 2019 just got back from an overnight backpacking trip around 10 mile round trip. Had a small tear on the toe area of the left boot. I expected more abrasion resistant on this area. Boots are going back for an exchange

Great Boots

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Awesome. Absolutely no complaints about these boots. The Vibrum sole has awesome grip, even with a bit of mud caked on the bottom. Got caught in a wicked rain/hail storm and my feet stayed completely dry, even after walking through puddles. Color was exactly as expected and the sizing was right on; fits like a glove.

Luv 'em! Vibrum sole is great and really grippy all the way around. The soul isn't hard like vibrum souled wildland fireboots. Somewhat softer, more cushion. My right foot is 9.5 and left is size 10, but both feet fit great in the 9.5, no problem. Break in time next to nil. Laces and boot material snuggle up your foot and ankle nicely. Only thing Merrell could do better is provide more of a cushioned insole. The insole is fitted to the inside of the boot fine, it's just there is hardly any thickness to it.
