I just ordered my third pair. I play disc golf in some very rugged terrain. My first pair lasted 8 years. I noticed yesterday that the sole was coming off of them. I have arthritis in my feet and these boots are the only thing I can wear comfortably. I highly recommend them.

Adventures in Norway with Merrells
I bought a pair for each member of my family traveling to Norway on a winter vacation that included lots of walking and outdoor activities in the Arctic Circle. No break in period needed for any of us. No blisters, no wet feet, no cold feet, and great traction and stability. We were extremely happy with the purchase and would highly recommend these boots!

Boot perfection
I confess to not having worn these much yet- only around the block- but they are perfect so far! Absolutely fit me. I got, as other reviewers advised, the size I usually take, and in wide to accommodate bunions and a couple of hammer toes. SO light, So comfortable! I have high hopes they will be just what I need for a short hiking trip in Nepal. Inserts are removable for other options to be used. Good support in structure of shoe.

Reliably good hiking boot
Now that I’ve well and truly tested my Merrell’s out, I can give a review. I wore these hiking boots on two 5 day hikes, ranging from 15-26kms each day. The terrain varied and included swampy and muddy forest paths, volcanic sand and rocky, high altitude terrain across Guatemala and Peru. Even with difficult terrain and long distances, my feet remained blister free (this is a big plus in my opinion), my feet were dry even after being submerged in water and mud, the boot had good grip and stability without feeling restrictive in rocky conditions. When hitting the higher kms (20km +) the boot did start to feel heavy and hot and I also find that I quite easily get rocks and grit getting captured into the boot. These were minor things but more noticeable when doing longer range treks and hikes. For mid range, they are very comfortable and they required no breaking in. Great boot!

I don’t even want to wear a different shoe or boot
I’ve been wearing Merrell, Columbia and some else hiking shoes for 8? years. I am a nurse and use them for work and would not change that until I tried on the Moab 3 hiking boots. When I put them on at the store I thought “Wow, these feel great! I bought them to actually hike and thought I should break them in before hiking. So, I’ve been wearing them to work and everywhere. They didn’t actually need to be broken in after all because they feel like they were made for MY feet. They feel just as comfortable after a 12 or 16 hour shift as when I put them on in the morning. Sometimes I think about how good they feel that I need to tell others how wonderful they are. People say, “well that’s great Mary. I’m glad you like them” . My feet are 62 years old and I’ve been through a lot with them. Some wicked plantar fasciitis. They feel so well supported that I don’t notice any support I just feel nothing but pleasure.

A solid foundation
I love, love, love these! I feel very stable and secure with these as a foundation. I am 68 y.o.and have problems with very severe arthritis, lower back and hip pain. I can be on my feet working all day in these much more comfortably than in anything else I have worn. They are also very warm outside in the cold weather.

Right ankle rub
The hikers are causing a rub on my right ankle. I have put on a large piece of mole skin on my ankle and I am hoping that it gets better.

Very Disappointed
I have worn Moab Mids for something like 15 years, this was my 4th pair. I have loved these boots for their comfort and fit right out of the box, they have never caused blisters or hotspots, they were supportive and rugged but also lightweight, my absolute favorite boot. The design, however, seems to have changed and not for the better. I immediately noticed the new boots had a different shape than my old pair, but didn’t really think much of it. Unfortunately within just the first few steps of my hike I noticed an uncomfortable rubbing on the back of my ankles. After less than a mile a large blister had developed in the back of my right ankle and a smaller one was forming on the left. There is a very stiff, thick seam running on the inside of the ankle about 2 cm from the top of the boot which is what is causing the issue. I was able to finish my hike after applying bandaids and moleskin and I was hoping the seam would soften but it really hasn’t done so and it started rubbing on my ankle bones as well. It took me years to find boots that didn’t cause issues and now I’m going to have to go back to square one to find new boots, which is very frustrating, especially after the amount I spent on this new pair.
