Enduro trifecta: light, stiff, and strong.

Built from the ground up for the needs of aggressive riding disciplines, the Mercury X3 Enduro 27.5in Boost Wheelset strikes the sweet spot for enduro and all-mountain riders seeking a do-it-all wheelset that's relatively lightweight, reliably strong, and stiff, but without the bankroll-draining price that comes with premium carbon hoops. The X3 Enduro Wheelset is updated for 2018 with a lower profile design that's more responsive than ever, plus a 30-millimeter internal width that optimally supports tires from 2.2 up to 2.8 inches in width.

The X3 Enduro Wheelset is pleasingly stiff for a set of alloy hoops, thanks to its two-cross lacing pattern, plus the improved bracing angle inherent to wheels built with Boost spacing in mind. The two-cross lacing pattern does offer a bit of vertical compliance, which is designed to smooth out the ride feel over especially rough terrain, but without sacrificing precision in steering or tracking on the trail.

Mercury laser welds the X3 Enduro to ensure a consistent, seamless rim that's well-balanced and without irregularities. The pronounced bead socket and flat rim bed allow you to easily set-up tubeless tires without excessive effort on your part. They're finished with Mercury's branded MTB Disc hub with sealed cartridge bearings for longevity, even in sloppy conditions. 28 Sapim Race double-butted spokes and Sapim brass nipples ensure a reliable, strong wheelset, but without the excessive weight of burlier wheels with 32 spokes.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have put these wheels through hell and they've done great. Cased jumps, ridden with flats, you know, everything you shouldn't do. I have had the spokes tightened up from my shop but that's been it.
As beat up as they are I reached out to Mercury seeing what a replacement hoop would cost and the price is right and they'll even do the rebuild for me.
I definitely got my moneys worth.

    Great Wheels

Good upgrade for any bike. I've got an older bike that has ample tire clearance but the stock wheels were only a 20mm internal rim width. You can't get much out of wide, beefy tires when your rolling scrawny rims.
Since I have purchased these the bike has ridden so much better and the tires connect like you would believe.

    Highly Recommend!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These wheels have been great. I've owned a set of Mercury wheels prior to these, some X1's that I'd highly recommend, but I wanted to trick out a new bike on a budget.
I ran into my first and only problem after taking a spill. A small log bent the hell out of a few spokes and broke one but I was able to make it off the mountain no problem. I reached out to the crew at Mercury and after getting the spoke lengths from them they offered to send a handful out. After my shop replaced and trued them the were really impressed of how well the spokes and nipples were prepped, making it much easier to true.
I could not be more impressed with the service behind the wheels and the care they put into to building them.

    Unanswered Question

How many pawls in the free wheel and is it 10 degree engagement? Does it come with the valves and tape or do I need to purchase those extra?
