    Inexpensive but Fast and Stable

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

So far 2800 miles on them. I was a little reluctant to pull the trigger on these wheels since I was concerned on how they would handle in crosswinds. I live along the coast and much of my riding is exposed to crosswinds blowing in off the ocean. I'm happy to report that they are very well behaved in the wind. In fact they seem more stable than my older 404’s. The hubs are great and very smooth. Can’t beat the price plus they look great. Well done Mercury.

    Super deal!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Just got these wheels for my BH. My first 60 mile ride; 2700 feet of climbing with 35-40 mph wind. These are light, snappy, less prone to wind deflection, and very stable on long descents. So far so good. Also they look great with the grey decals.

Put them on my Specialized for some race wheels. Very stiff and strong wheels. Riding with Michelin Pro 25mm tires makes for a perfect combo, especially on rides longer than 50 miles. Love these wheels.

    Love these!

I’ve ridden these for over 1800 miles and the performance and riding stability have been great. Riding conti 28c on them and love it. I have a set of Zipp 454 and these are much better riding at a third of the cost. Highly highly recommend.

Blew up my Enve's in the last corner of a crit and needed a quick replacement set of wheels that were light and dependable. I have a set of mercury's X1 wheels and like them, so I bought the S5's to replace my Enve's. They are incredible all around wheels for less than a thousand bucks. Two thumbs up!

I had been searching for a set of carbon wheels for a bit. Narrowed down my search and did a lot of research. The Mercury wheels won...hands down. They replaced the original equipment on my Argon18. Weight loss is awesome! Loving them so far!

    Wheely Good Wheels

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Inital Review with roughly 850 miles put on the wheelset, rode tubeless setup.

    - Great looking wheelset, made in the USA.
    - Aero AF - you can feel the difference especially when riding flats & descents, while feeling lightweight & stiff when climbing. True All-around performance.
    - great hub engagement, snappy, loud (though not as loud as I9).
    - braking performance is phenomenal; quiet, extremely effective braking, never burned the brake track on steep & windy mountain descents.
    - As mentioned before: PR's be damned, these are fast as hell.
    - Tubeless performance was great, haven't had a single puncture or de-beading occur.

    Love my S5’s!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These are fabulous wheels. The S5’s make for a great all-around wheel set that can be used for both training and racing. The Mercury hubs engage quickly, are very smooth and roll forever. One of the more remarkable things about this wheelset is how well they handle the crosswinds. Well done Mercury.

    Perfect on my Liv

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I wanted a nicer set of wheels that would match my bike. These are perfect with a muted logo.
They ride fast and I am able to keep up with the B group from my cycling club.

    Great wheelset!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I brought these as an upgrade to my stock alloy wheels on my older Ridley. So far I have 1600 miles on these without any issues. Also love that they’re hand built in the USA. They look great with lighter decals.

    2nd pair of S5's

A week ago or so I bought a set of the S5 disc wheels. I liked them so much, I decided to grab a set of rim brakes for my older Merckx.
I have only ridden them once so far, but much like the disc version, they corner and handle nicely. The wheels added a different feel to the Merckx where the bike felt brand new again!
I only rode the Merckx once a month, but after the addition of the S5's, I will start riding it more and more.
I also placed a set of Michelin Power 28c tires on it, that gave it a really nice road feel.

Finally, a under 1600g + sub-$1000 wheelset that's actually very good. Plus they’re US built. They climb and handle flats well. Very impressed.

It is possible to remove the decals?

      Hey Miguel,

The Mercury print is not removable, it is either stamped or etched in to the rim itself. If you have any further questions, feel free to reach out to me directly at!
