    Rock and roll.

An instant favorite of the World Cup DH racers at Maxxis, the Shorty Wide Trail 3C/Double Down/TR 27.5in Tire handles high-octane descents, turbulent rock gardens, and narrow corners with equal aplomb. This tire's foldable bead is ready to roll tubeless on your favorite wheels, featuring 120 TPI casing and the 3C Maxx Terra compound for pliable durability and grip on rowdy trails. The mid-depth spikes dig in on loose, muddy, or just downright soaked trail conditions, and its tread pattern is consistent throughout to allow the fast-rolling dual compound rubber to grip well whether you're taking a tight corner or climbing in sand.

    • Dual compound tire for control and durability on trail
    • Dual-ply construction handles rocky, rough trails
    • Mid-spike depth eats up loose and wet conditions
    • Tubeless-ready for easy sealing
    • Item #MXX006J

    Substantially Narrower than Expected

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Mounted the Shorty 2.5 Wide Trail 3C DD on DT Swiss EX 1501 30 mm (internal) rims. This tire measures at less than 2.3 inches on my front rim. This is less than my non-wide High Roller II at 2.4 inches. I don't know what is going on as this Shorty is made for this size rim. All other Maxis tires I've owned have come in very close to their claimed widths. I'm very disappointed as I was hoping for a front mud tire with a little more float, which is the entire reason I went for 30 mm rim and Wide Trail Shorty. I'm stuck with the tire as it is now mounted. This is not something I expected from Maxxis. Do not buy this if you are expecting a true Wide on 30 mm rims.
