Spike the mud.
Since it was originally designed to tackle the muckiest downhill courses with ease, the Maxxis Shorty didn't surprise anyone when it earned its place as a favorite on the downhill circuit. Now available in a trail option, the 27.5in Maxxis Shorty 3C/EXO/TR Tire provides mid-depth spikes to dig in on loose, muddy, or just downright soaked trail adventures.
This tire's foldable bead is tubeless ready to rock on your favorite wheels, featuring 60 TPI casing and the 3C Maxx Terra compound for pliable durability and grip. These tires will hook up and rail corners in loose conditions to power towards the line. As an added bonus, EXO sidewall protection fends off pesky rocks and trail obstacles to prevent ride-ending tire tears.

Solid mud tire
Great for spring time riding when conditions are wet. Has noticeably more braking power than a DHR in wet conditions. Have only used as a rear tire. A 2.4 width would be nice.
Great mud tire
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
Super traction in muddy wintry conditions. Grips when others slip!
Maxx grip from Maxx Terra!
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Do you find yourself wanting more grip from your tires? Buy this tire and never worry about what conditions you may encounter.
I found myself in need of a new front tire after my Magic Mary bubbled all over. Since that tire had been so good to me I was about to get another one. However, I noticed the Shorty and figured why not give it a try. After all I have loved tires I have ridden in the past from Maxxis.
This tire has large aggressive lugs, yet still rolls quick considering how knobby it is. Loose over hard? No problem. Sand? No problem. Hardpack? Still grips. Gravel or Mud? No problem. This tires likes it all.
The large side lugs offer tons of cornering grip, while the large center lugs aid with braking. This tire also self cleans very well.
Bottom line: if you are after a tire that grips no matter the conditions you may encounter this one won't let you down.
The title and descriptions lists this as 3c, MaxTerra and EXO, but the drop down doesn’t list EXO. Is this the EXO model tire?
Yes, this is an EXO model tire
