Exalith II Brake Pad
You’ve read the phrase “use with recommended brake pads” many times. If you have the Mavic Cosmic Carbone SLR, Cosmic Carbone SLE, R-Sys SLR, or Ksyrium SLR rims, the Standard Exalith II Brake Pads are exactly what is recommended. If you're looking for spare stoppers for the CXR Ultimate 60 Clincher wheels, then you'll want the CXR Exalith II pads, which are longer and skinnier than the Standard pads to account for the CXR's wider rim.
Wither way, the wheels use an Exalith coating to improve stopping power and minimize wear to the braking surface. While a standard brake pad will be demolished by this coating, the Exalith II pads are hard enough to take advantage of the increased stopping potential of Exalith II. This means longer life for your pads.
Please note that the CXR pads included here are only for use with the CXR Ultimate 60 Clincher wheels. The CXR 60 Clinchers have an Exalith II brake track, while the CXR 80 Tubular and CXR 60 Tubular wheels have carbon brake tracks, which will be chewed up by the super-hard Exalith II brake pads, voiding warranty and damaging the rims.

Only loss one star due to noisy when new, but man these stop so well for Exalith rims. Super impressed.

Correct brakes for Exalith rims
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
These brake pads are for use with Mavic rims with the Exalith treated braking surfaces. Once broken in, they are quite simply, the best braking performance wheels and pads I have ever experienced. Ideal for serious mountain descents. Other than a distinctive sound during braking, these are confidence inspiring brakes. I look forward to trying these [with Mavic R-sys wheels.] on future mountain rides. I did buy these pads to replace the the same type pads that came with the R-sys wheels. [Once they wear out.] The original pads wear quickly until the rims are broken in. The pads fit my Dura-Ace holders perfectly, making them easy to install.

So the Exalith pads actually say SwissStop FlashPRO on them - are these just flashpro pads ?? or does SwissStop make them for Mavic with a unique harder compound? Tx Mike

Hey, These are actually only good for Exalith rims. The brake pad is a VERY hard compound, and it would not provide sufficient friction for a regular aluminum rim.

Michael, Mavic has 2 Exalith versions, The CXR and regular. You would probably know if you need the CXR by wordage on the rim. If you do not have have CXR on your rim, then you would just need the regular.
