As you take inventory of your ride kit this spring while waiting patiently for the trails to dry out, consider replacing the shoes that gave you aches and pains for much of last year. Riding with control and having the right fit aren't mutually exclusive, and the Mavic Echappee Trail Elite Shoe proves it. Built with a higher volume shape to accommodate riders with wider feet and more prominent insteps, the Echappee provides a roomier fit while still feeling secure on your foot. Mavic's Quick Lace system and Comfort Strap take care of fit adjustments, ensuring the extra space doesn't translate to sloppiness on long climbs and fire road transitions. Plus, a power-transferring midsole with just enough flex for comfort on hike-a-bikes means you won't sacrifice any on-trail responsiveness for an improved fit.

- Q & A
If I could give zero stars...
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I bought this shoe because of the price-point and 5* reviews for the men's version. This shoe, however, is the worst mtb shoe ever in my opinion. STAY AWAY! Where do I even start!? The toe box is much narrower than the ankle/heel which resulted in discomfort in the front of my foot from the shoe being too tight, but then experienced heel slipping while walking. These shoes don't breath one bit. So, prepare to have HOT feet - and should you accidentally step in some water while making a creek crossing, anticipate have sopping wet feet for the remainder of your ride. They fit like a bulky hiking boot - just way too much for me and the tongue was high which resulted in rubbing on the front of my ankle. Furthermore, they are just downright ugly. Whoever designed this shoe needs to get some serious input on what women want in a mtb shoe because this had pretty much everything I wouldn't want.
