Deemax Pro WTS 27.5in Boost Wheel

If you followed downhill racing back in the late 90's you are undoubtedly familiar with the iconic yellow Mavic Deemax wheels under the sport's fastest riders. Since that time, axle spacing, tire widths, and even wheel diameters have changed quite a bit, however, Mavic's dedication of providing safe, reliable, and quick wheelsets the sport hasn't wavered. That tradition continues with the Deemax Pro WTS 27.5in Boost Wheel providing aggressive trail riders and enduro racers with quality hoops for going fast over demanding terrain. These wheels might not be quite as flashy as the all-yellow Deemax from two decades ago, but it does pay homage to that set with the yellow hubs and single spoke at the valve hole.

The wheelset features a heavy dose of sponsored rider feedback and proven Mavic know-how that brings modern technology to today's trail machines and riders. ISM, or inter-spoke milling, allows for a reduction of material on the spoke's face surface between the holes which helps lighten things up without sacrificing strength or impact protection. Patented Fore drilling allows each of the 24 Zicral spokes on each wheel to enter the aluminum hoops without the need for drilling an access hole through the rim for the nipple. This means it doesn't require rim tape between the hookless beads to achieve an airtight seal. An ideal scenario if you change tires frequently and don't want to risk tearing or piercing the rim tape. The rim profile is asymmetric front and rear with 28 and 25mm internal widths respectively. Mavic chose this design because it’s not uncommon for riders to run a slightly wider front tire versus the rear, or if you choose to run the same width, the slightly wider front will give the tire a little more volume for added comfort and traction while the rear keeps it slimmer for faster rolling and efficiency. Speaking of tires, Mavic supplies its tubeless-ready 2.5-inch Claw Pro XL tire on the front and 2.4-inch Quest Pro XL on the rear offering loads of grip and low rolling resistance in a wide range of conditions.

The heart of the wheelset is the QRM+ hubs spinning on double sealed cartridge bearings with micro-adjustability to take up play. The aluminum shells are slotted for the straight-pull Zircal spokes in a two-cross build on the front and a radial drive-side, two-cross non-drive rear helping to balance spoke tensions and improve reliability and stiffness. The ITS-4 freehub is available for Shimano HG and SRAM XD cassettes and it offers quick engagement so you can get back on the gas quickly after coasting as well as benefiting on technical uphill moves.
