Rough roads and hot weather can take a toll on your hands, as well as the rest of you, so Mavic's Aksium Men's Gloves can really come in handy. They sport plenty of EVA foam palm padding to absorb vibration from chipseal, gravel, and generally raggedy roads, and feature a stretch mesh upper to increase breathability and cooling while providing a snug and secure fit. The palm itself is made from Clarino synthetic leather, which is tough, flexible, and lightweight, and Mavic finished the Aksium off with a terry thumb panel for nose wiping and glasses cleaning, and stitched on a hook-and-loop cuff closure to keep out dust and pebbles.

Glove ripped

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

Used these gloves for about seven rides and the palm seems came apart. Very disappointed. Tried to return gloves but they are over 30 days after original purchase.

Not so great.

I've been using these gloves (the previous model) for a few months now. They have about 300 miles on them and are already falling apart. They're coming unstitched and the reflective material is peeling. I have a pair of pearl izumis that are 4 years old with thousands of miles on them that wear better.

    Not so great.

    Decent quality, good looks

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

After a full year of riding, these gloves have held up pretty well. I was a it disappointed at how quickly the padding seemed to dininish, but the glove are still comfy on the bars and the snot/sweat patches are still fluffy and absorbent. The closures need to be really pressed in on the start of a ride, the catches aren't actual Velcro, more like a plastic surface like the tops of tiny Lego bricks, but they usually hold well after that. The gloves look great, nice to find something plain black. Would buy again.
