    Does the Job

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

While these are not the highest end option you'll find from the well established Mavic brand, they are a very solid alloy wheelset for the $. They're built to last but not super light by any means, however they do come equipped with some smooth rolling hubs. All in all they're a sturdy build and in my experience last a long time.

    Very disappointed

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

These wheels came standard on the Ridley Fenix build that is a smoking good deal. I very much considered swapping out the wheels during the initial order as I knew these were sub-par, but figured I would give them a shot. Someone told me these wheels are like getting a set of stock pedals - they are good enough until you figure out what you really want. Well, 1,500 miles in, the freehub seized and locked up the rear wheel. I was lucky I was only going 10 mph at the time as it could have been catastrophic if it had happened at 40+ mph. I disassembled the freehub and a piece of one of the pawls broke off and got crushed into the hub body, causing it to deform and lock up the mechanism. I just sent a warranty claim into Competitive Cyclist and will see how quickly they respond and how much this will cost me in $ and time. Will update as process progresses.

Update: Duncan was very responsive. He requested I send the wheel back ($35 in shipping) and will update me once Mavic gets the wheel and makes an assessment.

    Very disappointed
