- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Let me just start out by saying I've been a hold out to the prepackaged backpacking meal scene. I've done a lot of backpacking both for work and pleasure and have never touched these things (mostly because they weren't available where I worked and I was being snobbish). Well I gave them a try and I have to admit they are quite tasty. I love how easy they are to use and clean. Count me as a convert. My buddy had the mountain house rice and chicken meal. We ended up combining them after trying our respective meals. The beans was definitely delicous as a stand-alone burrito option. But the beans paired with the mountain house chicken and rice was also tasty.
Great backpacking food
Good flavor and very filling. Next time I'll bring some tortillas and I'm guessing this will become a staple in my backpack.
My favorite dish. great protein.
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Just add some hot sauce and tortillas and you are set. I eat this every three days in the backcountry. Mary Jane Farms is the best. Organic and compostable packing. I buy all my food from Backcountry.com. I eat only MJF and Mountain House. Attached is a photo of my food for a 20 day trek. mostly Mary Jane Farms!
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
I put some in a tortilla, sprinkled a little queso and hot sauce. Well seasoned, filling and simple.
