Why We Like The Wind River Sleeping Bag

Marmot's Wind River -10 Degree Down Sleeping Bag is the mummy bag we crave when camping in cold weather. Whether we take it out in the shoulder seasons, take it up to higher altitudes, or camp through the winter, this bag is filled with 650-fill down that lofts to trap body heat close to your body. A Down Defender treatment protects the down from collapsing when exposed to moisture, and the baffles are designed to minimize gaps that can create cold spots.

my first impressions

I have only tested this in high 20sF on a winter camping and this is my impressions: 1- it does not compress that much, 2- it is easy to adjust the bag around the face without pulling ur hand out of the bag. 3- there are two zippers on each side one of which only opens from the inside of the bag. u can use them as a ventilation option or u can pull ur hands out of the bag to do any chores in ur tent while the bag is closed over ur head and shoulders. 4- I had issues with the main zippers. 9 out of every 10 times that I tried to zip up or down, they would snug no matter how careful I was with holding the fabric away from the zipper. 5- the foot box is very comfortable and the zipper on it helps with ventilation.

Warm bag with nice zipper options

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The way that it folds down like a blanket is nice! More importantly, thee is no need to choose “left zip” or “right zip.”. The expandable footbox is a nice feature! Keeping it zipped and compressed in cold weather adds warmth. I also own a zero-degree bag but the travel size and ravel weight of this -10 degree bag isn’t much more. I like the color too!

You had me at dual side zips!

The wind river sleeping bag is really versatile. I love the dual side zips and roomy feeling of the bag, and ease of entering and exiting. As an added benefit the dual side zips allow for extra ventilation if the inner temperature gets too high; and when I zip the dual zips up to my chest I can comfortably sit in my sleeping bag in a down jacket and keep my hands and arms free to read, eat, etc.. When the temps get low it’s easy to close down the hoody and neck baffles to keep all my heat inside. Getting a good nights sleep when on an adventure in cold environments is absolutely critical and this bag will deliver! Enjoy.

Not the best.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It's definitely a worm sleeping bag. However, it is cumbersome for backpacking and I've found that it tends to leak feathers. The fact that it only has 650 fill power means that you have to have an under quilt, or respective sleeping matt.

Great great bag

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought the wind river from my local marmot dealer - owned for about two years now. Amazing quality. definitely my favorite aspect of it would be the extra plush neck and pillow area. Makes for a very cozy sleep! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a below freezing bag!

So Cozy!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My friends and I all use Marmot sleeping bags since we find them to be the best weight to comfy ratio. I picked up the Wind River bag this spring and recently took it on a 4 day split boarding trip where the temps got down to around 15-20 at night. This bag has tons of room inside for me to alligator roll all over the place, and it was so warm that I opened up the footbox to let a little cool air in, which kept me pretty much perfect through the night. I love the double zip quilt cover and the loftiness of this thing.

I’m 220 and sleep hot. Used this bag the first time it was 10degrees f and I was so hot in this thing I had to open the foot vent and in zip both sides to sleep. Had a 8.2r rated sleeping pad under it and that setup was a furnace.

Fantastic sleeping bag!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I ordered this for my husband and he loves it! We used it this past weekend for some car camping and it was so comfortable and warm. I am jealous of the colors of his bag vs. my 0 degree bag. They are awesome and fun! Highly recommend this bag.

It makes me feel like Mochi Ice Cream

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It's sooooo comfortable. It's like being the ice cream in the center of Mochi. I love it for car camping and short backpacking trips. It doesn't pack down as much as more alpine-style bags, but it's also a 10 degree, and my coldest weather bag. I love the extendable foot area and the dual zippers on the side.

Great bag, but wrong style for m.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I did not like the design of the bag, specifically not being able to unzip one side all the way down. Also, the "neck" the bag had a curved cut which left a gap at my neck.
