Tungsten Tent: 1-Person 3-Season

Set off on a solo excursion into the backcountry with the Marmot Tungsten 1P Tent stashed in your pack. Its lightweight and compact construction won't weigh you down when you're trekking across challenging terrain, and the roomy design keeps you from getting claustrophobic when you're waiting out a storm deep in the mountains.

Zone construction creates vertical walls that increase sleeping and storage space without adding bulk, relieving you of the cramped conditions that most backpacking tents offer. Light weight, easy set up

Great all-round tent. I use this mostly for car camping, and it works super well! Good amount of space for 2 people and some stuff, easy set up (even in the dark), and the color is nice because it doesn't stand out too much.

Durable and lightweight enough

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

At 3 1/2 lbs, lightweight if not ultralight. The tent comes with a foot print, but you'll only need it for the fast pitch option. The heavier denier allows you to set up anywhere without a footprint. The door is on the left, so a left zip sleeping bag is a plus. The vestibule is big enough for a pack and a good amount of gear. The vent is above your head while sleeping, so it's easy enough to open or close without fully leaving the tent. I make sure to guy out the back of the tent in hot, wet or humid weather. I carry the parts separately: the fly and body in a compression sack, the stakes and poles in the Marmot provided sacks. Switched out the stakes for MSR groundhogs for guylines and vestibule, and mini-groundhogs for the tent body. I made lightweight guy lines out of 1.8 mm paracord which saves space and weight. The tent comes with 4 guy lines, you'll need 5. The only complaint: why no guy line tabs on tent fly ends? I haven't had any moisture build up and seep into the tent from the end walls, but it is the only place it could happen. To prevent this: guy out the tent fly's back wall, tighten the fly buckles, and open the top vent. There is a plastic J clip on tent's ceiling that you can hang a lantern from. There is a lampshade pocket that fits a headlamp and provides ambient light. I would recommend for any solo backpacker. It's my third one person tent, and the best designed and lightest I have used.

Great price & Fast shipping

The price to weight ratio for this tent is impossible to beat. It comes with the footprint which saves you $30 over other brands. The free 2-day shipping is awesome, it was here before I knew it. The tent sets up fast and easy, with the color coded poles and tabs. Can’t wait to get it out on the trail!

Yes

I own the 3 man version and 1 man. Both do great. 3 man lasted 1000 miles of the PCT last year. 1 man is my new solo tent. Works great in Oregon winter snows.

Did my research, this won

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

After a miserable night borrowing my dad's low profile one-person backpacking tent where I felt like I was going to die of poor ventilation and claustrophobia, I did my research and order myself this guy. It's awesome. Easy, simple set-up with two poles on the outside (crucial for cold, late nights setting up camp by headlamp), and the awesome extra space for my head. I loved it so much that I bought a two-person for camping/backpacking with an extra person (or car-camping solo).

Marmot 1 person tent

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Great one person tent. High quality materials. Easy set up. Light weight and packable, perfect for backpacking. I’m 6’2” and fit is good. Vestibule is good size. Probably won’t get a big frame pack in it. Great tent overall and since it came with a footprint that was made for the tent it makes it a great deal as well.

First 1p Tent

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Coming from using a bulky cheap Coleman 6 person tent for climbing trips with the guys, to this great lighter weight 1 person tent. Everything about this tent is high quality, from the mesh to the stakes it's all lightweight, and high quality materials. I got the shadow Moss coloration and it looks great. I'm a lean guy so it was more than roomy enough for me sideways, I was a little worried about the length because I am 6'1" but I still had about a foot of room at my feet, room to throw stuff sacks and clothes during the night. I really like how the lantern hook on the inside is offset towards your feet so it doesn't take any headroom when you sit up. Which again I had enough room to sit up with my head just barely touching the mesh top. Coming from a big bulky tent the greatest thing is how quick and easy this thing is to set up and take down. Really happy with everything about this tent, at a great price and quick two day shipping. Lifetime warranty from marmot too! If you need a 1 person tent that is lightweight (3lbs 8oz) and won't break the bank, this is one you can trust. Marmot does tents right.

Marmot Tungsten

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I love that Marmot bends their poles to maximize living space. If you're claustrophobic, every bit of space counts! The set up is super easy too. The poles and clips are color coded so you know exactly what pieces connect to each other. The light pocket is a super awesome feature as well!

Great tent!

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I have used this tent on multiple trips, and thus far it has endured quite a bit including rain, freezing temperatures and an inch or so of snow. No rain got in, but I did notice condensation droplets forming on the inside of the tent right around the very top of the rainfly which seems to be expected. Overall, the tent has been great so far, is fairly light to carry in pack and is perfect for one person.

What is the lowest temperatures have you use this for?

The specs say that the pack size is 18X6. The marmot website says that the pack size is 21x6.5 I was ready to pull the trigger on this tent for motorcycle camping, but pole length and pack size is the most critical deciding factor for me. 18 is doable, 20 is too long. which is it?
