Toasty warmth on chilly missions.
Layer your Marmot Men's Quasar Nova Hooded Down Jacket under your shell and hop in line for first chair. This midweight puffy makes the perfect layer for a frigid day on the slopes, stuffed with toasty and highly compressible 800-fill goose down. Flip up the hood when the winds start to howl, or rock it on its own when you post up for lunch on a chilly spring hike.

Hate the Hood
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Fit: Runs large
- Size Bought: Medium
- Height: 5'11"
- Weight: 175lbs
This jacket doesnt have the water resistant down or ripstop fabric of other jackets in its class, but may make up for that by being signifcantly warmer (I tried a few others...including the surprisingly cold MH ghost whisperer). The baffles are extra puffy and fabric blocks wind fairly well.
Its an outstanding jacket for sedentary outdoors or just walking in temps over 40F (maybe lower, depending on your metabolism, etc). Unless you size up to a baggier fit, the binding armpits dont make it suitable for climbing...which is why such a big, sloppy (non-adjustable), helmet compatible hood doesnt make sense. I'm not a climber, so, in hindsight, I'd buy the less expensive non-hood version and just wear a fleece hoody underneath, w/ a thick windstopper beanie under that.
I'm 5'11"/175 lbs and the medium fits pretty snug, with just enough room for a base and thermal layer, underneath.
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: Small
- Height: 5'11"
- Weight: 150lbs
Snug tailored fit, great colour and super warm for the light weight. Just what I wanted.
Quality seems good but
Fit was too boxy. Bummed because i liked the jacket but looked weird.
