Pro Tour Pant

As part of Marmot's M2 collection, the Men's Pro Tour Pant is suitable for backcountry touring in moderate conditions. Gore-Tex Windstopper cuts back the chill with reliable windproofing, and it's ruggedly water-resistant to shed snow spray and light snowfall. This softshell is also fairly stretchy and incredibly breathable for comfort on the ascent. Ventilation zippers at each leg amplify airflow to keep you cool. Marmot reinforced the cuffs with Cordura for abrasion-resistance against crampons and ski edges, and there are zippers to get the gaiters over your boots easier. The waist has adjustable tabs if you want to remove the suspenders.

Great winter sports pants

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer
Fit:
True to size

36 regular

My review is for a pair of these I bought in 2017. I just bought some replacements, not because the originals have worn out yet but rather because they are so good I want the same pants when the time comes. I wear these most everyday in the winter for backcountry skiing, resort uphill laps, riding the chair lifts, Nordic skiing, ice skating and snow blowing the driveway. I have a pair of hard shell pants but rarely use them any more. These keep the wind out great as well snow and some wet, thought the are not waterproof. The side zips are great and while these are not insulated I rarely were significant layers underneath. I wish the pockets where a little bigger, and perhaps external to the pants. But otherwise no complaints. The suspenders work great and are easy to remove for washing. A note on the sizing. In 2017 they ran large, I am a 36 waist but the 34’s fit perfectly. But now they are more true to size, the current 36 is what I needed for the new purchase.

Thanks for the sizing update. It really helps out.

I have tried no less than 8 pairs of new pants to try to get the combination of slim fit yet still good flexibility. I skied two days in not so great conditions in Whistler and never got a bit wet. They were slightly warmer than my goretex shell pants, as the windstopper material is a bit of insulation vs. a pure shell. They are slim but still fit well over my ski boots. They would have no issue over boarding boots. 6', 170 lbs and didn't feel they were too tight nor too high in the crotch.

Have never had any issue with these, except for a couple big, wet powder days when the hardshell would've been a better bet. Great fit and allow for a lot of leg movement.

Thanks very much for leaving this review, we appreciate it!

Good pants til it's wet out

I have used these pants on many mountaineering trips in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Most of the time they are fantastic. Good fit, suspenders do their job, and the stretch of the material makes them very comfortable. The downside is that come with a cost. I spent a day where the temperature was 30 degrees outside and the sun was causing the snow on the trees to melt... this dripping got onto the pants and ultimately went through them fairly quickly. Soon my base layer was soaked and it trickled down my leg inside my boots and soaked my socks completely. This could have been a pretty dangerous situation if the temps dropped on me while I was out there. I would NOT describe these pants as water resistant. They are a decent soft shell but in my opinion offer little to no water resistance. Probably fine for a fair weather skier. Anyone else else would be wise to keep shopping.

Great touring bibs

These are a soft shell bib and are great for touring. I don't think the fit is that skinny. They might be just a little shorter than other pants but not too short. I love the stretchy fabric on these.

I love these pants, and the bibs are great. However, I have to disagree with another review. I ordered a size up (34) due to that review, thinking they may fit slimmer than normal. I too am a skinny guy with skinny legs. 32" waist, 34" inseam. The 34"s are not tight at all, and are a little short in the leg. They fit like a true 34". Wish they were slimmer but they work. Pocket space is great, vents are great. Lighter weight than typical pants but still warm. I wore them on a 10 deg day in the northeast, with a thin baselayer, and had no issues with warmth.

I bought these pants just before touring up mt st Helens. They performed well and I liked the stretchy fabric. What I didn't like was the tight fit...I'm a skinny dude with skinny legs, and these were still too tight for my liking. The suspenders also came un-done while riding down and were dragging on the ground behind me.

I love these pants. The stretch well, breath well. They are durable and have just enough pocket space. The cuff is about perfect. It fits over my snowboard boots but is snug enough to keep the snow out. Honestly, the only thing I could say that is slightly negative is size is a tad weird. Just a tad. They run a tad big in the waist but not as much in the thigh. it's not that big of a deal at all.

So far so good with these pants! I have only gotten to take them out for one end of the season spring tour but I loved them. They kept me dry despite it being a really wet spring skiing day and very surprisingly breathable and light even with the heat. They do run a tad bit large, I normally wear a size 32 waist and ended up with a size 30 in these which fit me quite well! They have plenty of pockets, great ventilation options, and Cordura scuff guards for those inclined towards spring alpine pursuits! Overall if you need some spring skiing softshell pants, look no further, these are fanstastic!

I loved them when I got them. Very comfortable, feel solid, look good, and have the perfect amount of stretch. Wish there was a 33 waist. I went the 34 and it fits alright. After one day on the mountain the scuff guard was pretty beat up. Backcountry was nice enough to replace them so we'll see.

I've used this softshell several times skinning in temps ranging from single digits to 30s with just a baselayer. Definitely warm enough while moving in single digit weather and vents were wide open in warmer temps. Perfect fit for my lanky frame. Fitted but not snug. Call me old fashioned but I love the suspenders. Can't beat this pant for the price. Contemplating buying another to put on the shelf for standby.

Marmot Pro Tour

The only problem I've had is when I fell one time, my marker binding brakes tore a small hole in the pants. These pants have been used about a dozen times now and I have no complaints on how they have worked. All the way down to -10 and with a spandex base and Salomon ski pant underneath have kept very warm. No waterproofing issues as of now either. The boot zip is of course amazing, a must have when buying pants, fit over my ski boots perfectly. I like these pants because they aren't too baggy but still have room for layers, as I hate that baggy pants type that some have. Suspenders were also a must, just because I like that they won't sag or fall off.

The black color option looks more like grey in the pictures. Can you please confirm whether these are more of a grey or are actually black?

Hey John, good eye, our actual inventory is a lot darker than this image, the product is black, we'll edit that image to make it more clear.
