From fall's first drop to spring's final melt.
The Marmot Men's Palisades Jacket feels right whether you're skiing winter powder or spring corn. Its Gore-Tex membrane and fully taped seams provide reliable waterproof and breathable protection for snowy weather, and the AirExchange lining works with underarm zippers to ensure ventilation in warmer, sunny conditions.
The Palisades also features a storm hood with laminated brim to keep snowflakes off your goggles, and it zips off for bluebird days. Hook-and-loop straps at the cuffs and an elastic drawcord at the hem keep snow out. And the addition of Marmot's Pack Pockets grants easy access to the front pockets, even with a backpack on. The convenient sleeve pocket accommodates ski passes to keep you rolling through chairlift access gates smoothly.

- Q & A
Great jacket to get into GoreTex
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: Medium
- Height: 6'0"
- Weight: 165lbs
I picked up this jacket after my last ski jacket started to show its age. It fits me great, allows for layering underneath, and has a couple key features that I really like.
First off, GoreTex for around $300. That's just awesome. Even though it is 2 layer and not the 3 layer pro, it has kept me absolutely dry even when it was dumping snow and in a couple of rainstorms. It has a powder skirt, removable hood, and has a double zipper that allows you to zip a marmot fleece into it if its super cold out.
The downsides: the hood is not helmet compatible, and the cuffs of the sleeves are a bit too narrow to stuff a glove inside them, so gloves have to be worn on the outside of the sleeve. Other than that, a great coat that I will use for a while.
