NanoWave 50 Degree Synthetic Semi Rec Sleeping Bag

The Marmot NanoWave 50 Degree Synthetic Semi Rec Sleeping Bag is compact, weather-resistant, and lightweight, making it the perfect companion for rafting, bikepacking, or summer backpacking. The bag's Spirafil insulation is lofty and compressible to keep weight and space to a minimum, and it's capable of retaining insulating properties if it happens to get wet during your travels. A full-length zipper lets you sleep with one (or two) legs out during hot summer nights, and the snagless draft tube helps keep things toasty if you encounter chillier weather.

Very Nice Bag, But Needs A Small Modification

I bought 2 of these sleeping bags for my wife and I to use while travelling this Summer. We also own an earlier model of a Marmot Summer bag, the Trestles Trails bag with a Dri-Clime like liner and a water repellent nylon outer, with no hood. But those bags weren't warm enough if temps dipped below 50 degrees, even after being zipped together into a double wide sleeping bag. The Nanowave 50 Semi Rectangular comes in only Left Zip. I was able to zip 2 of these bags together into a double wide bag, and the zippers work fine. The only issue is that one bag will have the hood flop over onto your chest, but the other bag will have its hood down and ready for use. If more warmth is needed, our old Trestle Trails bags can fit over the Nanowave 50 as a double bag. That lowers the comfort level down another 10 degrees or to about 40 degrees. Why doesn't Marmot make the Long model in Left Zip and the Regular model in Right Zip, so couples can mate the bags together into a double wide bag? The Nanowave 50 Long Semi Rectangular is fairly roomy, even for a big guy like me (6 feet 2 inches/ 290 pounds). It comes with a very nice compression stuff sack that cinches the bag down to about the size of a football. This fits well inside our Deuter 32 ACT Trail and Deuter ACT Trail SL 28 liter packs, which we use as carry-on travel bags. I think these will be the perfect sleeping bags for Summer hiking, travelling with overnight stays in a Kozy Kabin at KOA campgrounds, or crashing on a couch in the cooler weather.
