All the features you need with nothing to slow you down.

Rather than weighing you down with all sorts of bells and whistles you'll never use, the Marmot Men's Motion Pant provides basic protection from the elements and a comfortable fit designed specifically for winter sports. Waterproof breathable fabric keeps you dry while you ride the lift during a wet storm, articulated knees allow you to move freely, and Marmot's legendary durability makes this pant one that'll stick around for season after season.

    • Relaxed cut provides a comfortable fit and leaves room underneath for layering
    • Waterproof breathable Membrain keeps you dry in wet weather while allowing excess heat to escape from the inside
    • Water-resistant PU coating makes water bead up on the surface of the fabric so you won't get that dry-but-still-damp feeling inside the jacket
    • Fully taped construction seals fabric seams in order to ensure waterproofing
    • Articulated knees mean you get full range of motion
    • Internal leg gaiters keep deep snow from creeping up your pant leg and into your boots

    FANTASTIC performance in all conditions

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large

Amazing pants -- and waterproof even in the rain! Bought these before heading to Whistler. I knew at Whistler I would be sitting on wet chairs, getting rained on (on the lower half), etc., and needed high-performance pants. James Farnan at BC talked me into these pants -- I was skeptical, because they were so affordable -- and on sale! But there performed every bit as well as my 3 layer NF goretex shell coat (which cost $300 on sale, btw). So all I can say is: I don't know how they do it, but these pants perform under all conditions!

Fit is true to size - I have a 36" waist, and these fit perfectly. I did order the 'short' leg option, and they also fit my 30" inseam perfectly.

    Good Snowpants

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

Used for 2 weeks of skiing Steamboat Springs, CO. Waterproofing is phenomenal. Sizing is accurate. Little, if any insulation, so beware. I wore with long johns + fleece sweat pants--more than enough to stay warm on the mountain in early March (was never cold). Biggest draw back is the lack of vents on the inner thighs--layer accordingly, they can heat up if you're riding hard. Seem very durable.

3 stars for overall design, 4 stars for the price

    Motion for a Frozen Ocean

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large

I originally got the size Medium thinking that they would fit me, but these do not run as large as you would think. They do run a bit larger than expected but not by much at all. These are a great pair of shell pants and I have used them for a number of winter activities, with satisfactory results each and every time. The belt loops are awesome, it gives you the option to add a belt and get the fit dialed in. Than the gaiters on the legs are great at keeping the snow out, and keeps cinched tight against your legs. With a nice base-layer underneath these keep you plenty warm when it gets cold, but the material also breaths very well when you are pumping away in the snow. A great pair of shell pants for someone looking for something very versatile and not super technical.

    Weird sizing

    • Fit: Runs large

Got the mediums but had to return them for small due to way too much room in the waist and extra length. The small size just barely fits me and is a little uncomfortable. Really wish the medium was truly a medium size cause these seem like nice pants :(

The description says two back pockets.

    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

These are almost exactly what I hoped for. The fit is good everything is perfect except there are no back pockets which the website says should be there. They are still nice pants and I don't want to go through the hassle of returning them, but had I known I would not have purchased these.

    Not true to size

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: XL

Bought an Xl expecting it to be spot on. While the build quality is outstanding, the pants were so small that I could barely get them over my quads; the waist was impossible.

    Awesome!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Medium

I've skied most of the day in three snowstorms now in these pants with zero wet-out! Basic and simple, gets the job done. The legs/butt are loose enough to layer underneath but the size medium is a bit tight at my waist (I usually wear a 32 or 33 pants).

Great option if you don't want to shell out major $$ for ski pants!

    Tough fit

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I'm 6'3" and about 160, normally wear 33x34 pants (we prefer the term lanky) and couldn't figure out whether to get the L or the M. I ordered both, the L was comically large, the M was tough to fasten. The elastic tabs don't do much in terms of adjusting waist size. I returned both.
The Marsala Brown color looked more eggplant to me, not ideal.
Otherwise, seemed like solid pants, but no good for me.

    Nice pants, a bit long

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: Small

I'm short, these pants are not. The waist is a perfect fit, they're comfortable, and they fit really well until I walk around when I start to step all over the heel of the pant.

They also make a bit more noise than I was expecting them to when I walk in them.

That said, I spent a weekend in them in the woods, and I like them enough that I'm now looking for an affordable place to hem the cuffs so that I can keep them.

Nice 'n long for tall guy

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size

No snow as of yet on the east coast! This was just to give size impressions. I'm 6'3", 36x34 and these pants have are long enough for me. I'm 220lbs (hiking and sprinting) so these pants have a nice relaxed fit one me, without being too baggy. I could see how someone who is much leaner than me might think these pants are baggy, though. Finally opted for a color other than my traditional black ski pant that I've been using for the past 3 decades and I really like the dark rust hue.

After I actually hit the slopes will update my review, but if you're tall like me, feel confident that the XL is long enough for a 34" inseam

    Basic, but solid.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

Skied 29 days last winter wearing these in everything from -10° with 30mph blowing snow to 50° spring conditions and they consistently worked great. They keep out wet and also don't keep in moisture from body heat. They definitely are not lined, but I never needed more than a mid-weight compression layer on cold days. There is plenty of room for layers underneath. I wear suspenders with them because I have a low waist and I wanted them to sit slightly higher on my torso. Wouldn't pay full retail for these, but getting them on sale makes it worth it. I am 6'1" and 180 lbs, 32 in. waist, wearing a medium. Excuse the lame celebratory picture - it was a great day and the mountain was empty. ;)

    Basic, but solid.

    A great shell pant

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs large

So I got these new for this season and have been very impressed by these pants. These were great at slicing through deep powder and kept out the worst of the weather even on a terrible -10° day (brutal, but hey no lines). I had a great week with these pants and so will you.

    Good Basic Pant

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: XL

Purchased these as a gift, have received positive feedback. With a light base layer these pants stay warm and dry in normal winter conditions. If you need a basic pair of ski pants these are a good choice.

    Great Purchase! Just Great Puchase!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs small

Just finished 3 days epic powder sking at Alta. My new britches were bullet proof. They had every opportunity to "wet out", yet remained dry as bone on the inside. Good features and a great bargan. The mustard yellow color was a bonus.

    LOVE THESE PANTS!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

These pants are awesome! THEY ARE A STEAL FOR THE PRICE!!! If you like shell pants, you'll love these!

They're not too baggy not too tight, just right where you want it for full range of motion.

They're comfortable, warm(if you have the baselayers) , and waterproof, what more could you want??

    I'm 5'10 150 lbs and a medium fits perfect!

Overall these are a MUST BUY! 10/10 Great pants!

    Good, Runs A Little Large

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs large

I bought these pants in a large for my brother and they were a bit too large (he would normally be a large). I would have given these pants a 5 start rating, but when we skied in Colorado in December in the mid-20's he thought these pants didn't keep him warm enough to be able to stand up to the cold that comes in real winter in the mountains. Otherwise he seemed to really like the pants.

    Good Pants

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs large

I used these pants for the first time this season and they worked well. They seem durable and well made. They are just a shell but with a layer or two underneath are plenty warm on cold days. I am 6'2" and 175 and I bought the large. I feel like they are on the baggy side and the waist is a little big for me. The built in tightening feature is nice and takes care of most of the slack. Overall, nice product and were on sale when I bought them so I feel it was a fair deal.

What is the inseam length of the medium>?...

What is the inseam length of the medium>? I am 6'2 185, but have a 31in waist. This size chart lists 3 inseam lengths. Is there a standard length? I'm assuming Regular (32in.)

    Are these pants insulated?

when narrowing down the search i clicked to show insulated pants only and these were there. but in the description it sounds like they are just a shell
