    Winter in the city.

    Great Gift

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I bought this as a gift for my mom and she loves it. I didn't get any feedback on sizing, but she hasn't complained so far. Perfect for those chilly winter days.

    Too Small

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: medium/large
    • Height: 5'4"
    • Weight: 140lbs

Love the jacket, the fit is so disproportionate I had to order a size up and then it ended up too large everywhere. Too sad because it's a very nice jacket all around otherwise.

    Small

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: medium
    • Height: 5'3"

Ordered a medium for my wife who usually wears small clothes. it came in says it’s a medium but looked small even before she put it on. the coat looked nice if not a bit more poofy than expected. looks like it will be warm for someone but we will have to return

    Marmot Montreal Jacket

I bought this jacket and the North Face Metropolis planning on only keeping one of them. I went with the TNF because of the fit, this jacket runs much smaller, so it didn't quite work.

      Disappointment; not for curves

      • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
      • Fit: Runs small
      • Size Bought: medium
      • Height: 5'1"
      • Weight: 125lbs

I was so excited to order this coat. I read all the reviews and I am a petite girl and thought it would fit. I would say do not buy this jacket if you have curves. I am only 5 ft. 1 and 125 pounds. I bought a medium because I saw that it runs slightly small. It was pretty tight all around if you wear a sweater underneath. Also it was too tight in the hips. If I got the larger size it would just look unflattering and it was too puffy and the material wasn't really flexible. Overall, it was not what I was expecting and did not fit my body type unfortunately so I will be returning and trying to find a different coat. I typically am a B cup and in pants a size 6-8 and the medium was too small for a coat and the large would probably be too big.

      WORTH EVERY PENNY

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: Runs small
      • Size Bought: medium
      • Height: 5'1"
      • Weight: 115lbs

I have never been this in love with a coat!! it keeps me REALLY warm & it does not look bulky. it looks really cute & flattering! i am a petite girl, 5'1 and this doesn't look too long on me. I usually wear S, and I ordered M in this and it perfectly fit me, for the hood if you detach the fur it won't cover your eyes.

      Loved since 2011 - WORTH IT!! <3

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size

I love this coat so much. its held the test of time with daily winter wearing since 2011 and going strong. I've had several spills or food slashes on it and each time I just toss it in the wash with powdered detergent, hang to dry for a bit, then fluff it in the dryer with dryer balls to get the poof back and it's like new each time. The only small downfall is that it's not waterproof AT ALL, so if you're out in rainy/slushy/snow you'll end up wet and cold.

      So Cute and Flattering

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
      • Fit: Runs small

I gave this coat as a gift for my friend, and she absolutely loves it! It keeps her warm without looking bulky. She agrees that it runs slightly small. So if you plan on wearing the coat over layers, then consider sizing up. She usually wears an XS or S, and she is glad she went with a S in this coat. She likes that it fits well even though she is petite. She normally has trouble with long sleeves on other coats, but the sleeves on this coat fit her perfectly!

      Wanted to like it.....

      • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
      • Fit: True to size

I was looking forward to receiving this coat. It fit well. I ordered a large and had plenty of room. I do not agree that it runs small--feel it runs true to size. I believe this coat would be very warm in cold temps--definitely felt cozy. when I tried on. However, when I put the hood up, the top of the hood fell over my eyes. I wouldn't be able to wear the hood if I kept this coat. I will be returning for that reason. What a shame!

Its small if you plan on layering

      • Fit: Runs small
      • Size Bought: Small
      • Height: 5'5"
      • Weight: 109lbs

I am a small person, always have been. 5'5, 109 lbs, thus I never second guessed purchasing a SM, even when the reviews suggested sizing up! The coat arrived and its wonderful, it fits like a glove... which a problem because I live in NYC and the winters here can be pretty uncomfortable unless you layer up. I personally get cold very easily therefore I need to be as warm as possible. I tried wearing it over my hoodie and the sleeves were just too tight for me for Im exchanging for a M.
The hoodie fits very snug which is AWESOME because I don't have to worry about the wind blowing it off my head! Its lightweight so I can go from work to school without too much baggage.

      Warm and cute!

I bought this coat moving from souther arizona to the mountains of Idaho. It kept me very warm and happy! it does run a little small, so size up. the hood stays down in the wind. 10/10 would recommend to anyone!

      Gifted to my best friend

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
      • Fit: True to size
      • Height: 5'2"
      • Weight: 120lbs

I bought this as a gift for my friend for her birthday over the holidays. She absolutely loved it! It gets so cold out here in Utah, but I bought it for her because she was headed to New York as well. The 700 fill was able to keep her warm enough this season and I think I may have won her over! Seriously the Steel Onyx is the prettiest color....I need to get one for myself now!

      Super warm and comfortable!

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: Runs small
      • Size Bought: L
      • Height: 5'3"
      • Weight: 142lbs

I returned the first coat and exchanged for the petite because the regular was very long. This jacket is a nice weight, easy to zip and very warm.

Beautiful coat but runs a little small

      • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
      • Fit: Runs small
      • Size Bought: Medium
      • Height: 5'4"
      • Weight: 140lbs

I absolutely love this coat however it runs a little small. Order a size up especially if you have some arm size. Otherwise this is a beautiful well made jacket!

      My go-to coat

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I love this coat so much. I wear it walking ~1 mile to work every day during Boston winter and its never let me down. The length keeps my legs warm while still allowing a great range of motion. I also love the fleece sleeves inside the down that overlap well with mittens so no cold wind sneaks in.

True to size and great for cold temps

      • Height: 5'8"
      • Weight: 135lbs

I love this coat so much I bought a second one. It is frequently subzero (Fahrenheit) where I live and so I wear this coat everyday for months. After 3 winters of the black I decided to switch it up with a new color--whitestone. Both are lovely, soft, and warm. The whitestone isn't bright white, but more of a grey/white with grey trim. I also went with a small this time instead of a medium and so glad I did! It fits true to size (no vanity sizing). I measure 5'8'' 34-27-38. No need to order up to leave space for bulky clothes. I wear snowpants over my jeans on really cold days, and a small still fits. XS = 2, S= 4/6, M=8/10, L=12/14, XL=16

What is subzero to you? I Iive in Alaska and we are frequently at -30 this time of the year. Do you think this will hold up while taking my kinder/first graders out to the bus? I don’t want to have to add another layer, I am looking for a very warm (long) jacket that I can just throw on and go.

      love it

      • Size Bought: large
      • Height: 5'7"
      • Weight: 130lbs

I cant wait to wear this coat in college next year! It is super warm and seems as though it will last forever! the fit is great! I sized up because it was tight on the arms, I am usually a medium.

      Very Warm Coat

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Medium
      • Height: 5'2"
      • Weight: 140lbs

I recently used this jacket on a trip to Banff, Canada. The average temps were -15 F during the entire time we were there. I wore this with 2 layers underneath and I was perfectly warm. I did use a merino wool layer and often times a thin sweatshirt type shirt but you have to layer in those temps. I'm so happy with my purchase. I also use it in the mornings when it's maybe in the 50's-60's in California too. Love it.

Is this coat really warm enough for around 0°F? It feels too light to be super warm.

      Unanswered Question

What is the material inside the pockets? Also, does this coat have the wrist protection with thumb holes?

Does anyone think the black looks very chocolate brown?

My wife is busty and hippy- very hourglass shaped. She's generally a 14 or 16, but these brands are hard. Do you think the XXL would fit her?

FYI - I actually just tried this jacket on today. I'm usually a solid Medium. I do like my clothes a bit on the loose side. So I tried the large on and found it a little constricting in the chest area especially. I'm 5-5 and 135 lbs. I'd say this runs small. I decided not to buy it...

I'm 5'8" and 140-145 lbs. I have pretty broad shoulders (swimmer shoulders) and am debating between a medium and large. What would you suggest?

      Best Answer

I am the same height as you and about 5 lbs heavier. I tried both the M and L in a store. The M was very fitted, with only a t shirt on and the shoulders were tight when I put my arms forward. The sleeves were also too short. The L is what I went with and would suggest for you as well.

      DOES IT PACK DOWN SMALL

Not really. It is meant to be worn as a causal coat for work or social outings in really cold temps.

Just my opinion from trying to stuff the jacket into a shopping bag I had nearby: The hood is not packable at all because of the fur and the body of the jacket is slightly compressible.

Does this jacket have wrist protectors (inserts for your hands) at the end of the sleeves? It is hard to tell from the picture?

If you're talking about the kind that covers your palm and a hole for the thumb, no it doesn't. It just has a fleece cuff (not elasticized) that comes right up to the inside of the down exterior material.

On another site it says that the down leaks all over the back. Has this been a problem for anyone?

I had concern about this too. I called Marmot and they said there were some issues with some of the coats but not all of them. They apparently guarantee and so does Backcountry. I would check with customer service by phone to see how they would handle this. Not sure how Marmot would handle guarantee.

If I normally wear a medium, would a large...

If I normally wear a medium, would a large look too bulky on me? I'm 5'4", 120lbs. I really want this jacket but can't find it anywhere in medium.
