Marmot Mantis Plus Tent: 3-Person 3-Season

Add Protect+ Powered by Extend™

Enjoy the view.

Set Marmot's Mantis 3P Plus Tent so its massive door points toward the prettiest sight at the campsite. This tent is both light enough for backpacking and comfy enough for music festivals. The super-sized double door has a mesh panel that lets you enjoy nature without the bugs, and the removable fly features fully taped seams for reliable waterproofing in rainy weather. The fly creates a massive vestibule to fit all three backpacks, and it converts to an awning perfect for camp chairs at the festival. The headlamp pocket secures your lamp in such a way that it can provide ambient lighting in the entire interior.
  • Angle this tent for the best sights your campsite has to offer
  • 3-person plus capacity stays very roomy with three backpackers
  • Weatherproof fly with top vents and large rear lower vent
  • Large door with removable vestibule that coverts to awning
  • Interior and headlamp pockets store all the small things

I can stand up!

I've used it several times

The concept of this tent is so cool. Giant 'front' door, and a nice window at the back means a wonderful cross breeze as you slumber. It made for a perfect napping spot in the early summer heat out in the desert with the door open, a slight breeze and being shaded inside. The mornings were wonderful as I could just about stand up, so there was no struggle making a quick outfit change. Just about the only critique I have is the vestibule poles are just about useless if you're in a somewhat windy area. We were camping atop a cliff where the breeze was consistent, so we couldn't get them to stay planted to be of use, but if that's my only complaint, I think I will love this tent for many years to come!

Mixed Feelings

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I wanted to love this tent. It does have some really nice features and it looks unlike any other tent I've seen, which is what drew me to it. I used it once, first attempt at setting it up, I could not get the stakes in the ground without bending. The ground was very hard, but I would have expected sturdier stakes for Marmot. They are not made out of the typical solid steel like every one stakes I've used. The tent also is not completely rain proof and every morning we woke up wet because it let the morning dew in. Overall, if you live in a dry warm climate, this isn't a terrible tent. But I would not recommend it for camping in the Colorado Rockies.

Love this tent!

Great tent! Easy to set up and get cozy! The different options on the vestibule really make this thing shine. The awning-mode is awesome for hanging out and creating lots of shade. Roll up the awning and keep the sides staked out and get max wind protection. Then close it all up for sleepy-time! This is a great car camping tent! Couldn't ask for more!
